You have to favor Duran because at his best he was just a better fighter. But you never know with Duran at 154. Sometimes he wouldn't show up. He was clearly out of shape against Hearns and didn't look hungry against Benitez either. But I'll take the Duran who beat Moore over the Trinidad that beat Vargas via close but clear UD or possible late stoppage.
154 is Tito's domain in this matchup. Because of the styles and Duran's height and short arms...Trinidad would bust him up.
Duran would turn Tito inside out and play banjo with his gizzards.:: Ever see the bit in Rocky II with Stallone getting spun around and around, tripping over his own feet & bouncing off the ropes as Duran sticks his tongue out at him? :: As i said, Tito gets the Cuevas treatment here (Cuevas vs Tito @147 now THAT'S an interesting match up), this would quite honestly end up being the most highlight reel friendly win of Duran's career. The difference in footwork and movement at mid range is titanic. Easy, easy meat.
As mentioned, Duran just couldn't be counted on at 154lbs --- not just from fight-to-fight, but from round-to-round often, as well. Trinidad won't let up with the powershots until such time as he's nothing left...Duran would need to beat the fight out of him, because he's too sluggish at Jr. Middle to box & counter-punch his man at close-range effectively without getting drawn into the fire-fight. I think Trinidad would surprise, you, Mr. Hut, if you don't think he'd take so much as a round.
Trinidad was at his very best @154. For Duran to beat this version of Tito he would have to go through a shit load of fire power. I favor Tito.
Really and truly there are very few MMs I'd be so confident about. A guy who can barely box just isn't beating Duran. He just isn't. Fernando Vargas or David Reid can just be worn down like a rock in the mindless tide by coming forward throwing hard shots, but NO version of Duran can. Not even the half arsed version who fought Laing and Benitez. He doesn't get caught with the fight changing shots those guys did and Tito can't outbox him in 300 years. He just gets turned in circles and made to look like he's got 2 wooden pegs legs. Field day.
Trinidad's brilliant boxing intellect would befuddle Duran, much like he was confused by Leonard and Benitez BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It never helped Tito's ring IQ that Don Felix always slapped the brain cells outta him in the corner.
y'all grossly underestimate Tito. Duran doesn't have the size, reach or style to play on tito's weaknesses...rather he plays into Tito's strengths. Duran's the greater fighter...but Tito busts him up.
Yeah. Tito would be spinning around, get out of his way. You know he'd be feeling it cause he likes it like this. :stir:
