    Hypocrite...your words in this thread...

"face value" my ass. How many months have you and the rest of Floydians dissected PPV numbers for either guy?

    :dunno:

No Different that Floyd "Needing" Pac to Do 1 MILLION PPV's, which he "Miraculously" Achieved vs. Marquez...The SAME Guy Pac Did LESS than HALF that Amount Against, F.Y.I....MORESO, 700,000 Sales Only STRENGTHENS the FACT that Cotto CLEARLY INFLUENCED the Sales of Pac-Cotto MORE than Pac Fans Want to Acknowledge...

By HIMSELF, Cotto ADDED Half a MILLION PPV Sales, Basically...

The point isn't that Pacquiao is doing 'as well' as he would have done had he and Mayweather agreed terms. Of course that isn't the case.

The point is that people decried Pacquiao as insane because, without Mayweather, he turned down $40million or however much. What those same people have FAILED to realise, and their absence in this thread is telling, is that without Mayweather, Pacquiao will still make $40million+. It'll just take him a few more fights. I mean, how much would this have translated to for Pacquiao? $10million-ish?

One of the central tenets of the PEDiao camp is that no sensible man would turn down that much money. What figures like this show is that Pacquiao is enough of a draw now that, even without Mayweather's drawing power, he'll still make the money.

In other words- Pacquiao didn't 'turn down' $40million. In practice, he in fact turned down the chance to make it in one go, and alongside Mayweather Jr.

He's better but not by much. I'd be curious as to how much he's actually taking home. His only saving grace is the standard of living in the Philipines is much lower than here...so the dollar goes farther.

Lest we not forget how Pac go into the whole Top Rank vs Golden Boy thing to begin with. Murad Muhammad ripped him off then Gary Shaw proceeded to do the same. Thomas Hauser wrote a good article about this a few years back.

Not to mention...Manny had a serious U.S. tax problem for quite some time...not on the level of Floyd, but had tax issues nonetheless.

If REED isn't Mistaken, the U.S. Govt. Takes as Much as 30% Off the TOP of Purses Earned in this Country by Foreign Fighters....Factor In Pac's EVER MULTIPLYING Entourage, Roach's Cut, Koncz's Cut & Manny's GENEROSITY...

He'll B FINE Living Happily Ever After in the Phillipines, but it'll Get DICEY Doing that in AMERICA...

so when floyd outdraws pac in his fight with mosley will he be deserving the lion's share of the purse? I mean quality of opponent doesn't matter right (like Cotto v JMM)?

How about we just add up total PPV sales from all PPV's and compare total numbers.

Well.. you have to admit that by your logic, I could also say that "People fail to understand that Manny will make $40M easily without fighting Floyd, he will just have to take some endorsement deals, make some good investments, save his salary when he gets elected in the Philippines, and clip some coupons, it will just take him maybe 15 more years."

I think you always take the sure thing, that happens soon, over the "probably" thing that takes years to unfold. Especially in boxing where people are in the ring trying to hurt each other every fight. There is no guarantee that either Floyd or Manny doesn't lose their next fight, or have a career ending injury, and then they watch their $40M flutter away.

But I will say that if I were PBF or Pac, I would view the fight as a payday, certainly, but it would have so much added value to me in terms or proving who was best and punctuating an all-time legacy. Especially as these fighters are threatening (or actually carrying out) their retirements.
