Eddie Murphy vs bill murray

I think Murray's movies have more rewatchability...even though most of them aren't as good

I put that down to Murray

 

I love Murray but Eddie is simply better. He has the bigger comedy hits but he gets hurt because he has so many misses in the last several years. The thing Eddie has over Murray is his best stuff is real big time stuff whereas Murray has a much more consistent run throughout his career but doesn't have any real huge comedy hits like Eddie that everyone and their grandma has seen except maybe Ghostbusters. So as much crap as Eddie has been in I still think he gets the edge because hits like Coming to America, The Nutty Professor films, Beverly Hills cop films and even Shrek were huge hits. And let's not even bring up Delerious which is quite simply the greatest standup of all time.

Eddie's big problem was not giving a shit about his legacy. He cared about the money too much and would just do any film as long as the pay was good.

 

Beverly Hills cop 3 was an abomination though. It killed the franchise. Wasn't Eddie walking around in a dumbo costume? Lol

 

Not sure. Actually I'm not a fan of any of those BHC films and none of them have aged well I'm sure. Still, it was one of his most popular franchises back in the day.

 

True, but in Eddie's defense, the pay wasn't just "good".

I don't have numbers in front of me, but Eddie was definitely one of the top 3 highest paid actors in the biz at one point.

 

from a quick google search it seems Billy Murray has a much much higher net worth though :dunno:

 

For a brief stretch he was numerous uno and then Arnold took over.

 

Eddie Murphy in his prime was just amazing, and one of my favorite actors ever.

So much screen presence, comedic timing, variety of voices, playing different characters, etc...

I barely watch any of his recent movies, they are just painful to watch.

 

If you ever wanna miss prime Eddie, just watch any Kevin Hart movie.

I absolutely HATE Hollywood for trying to turn that unfunny and annoying fuckin midget into the next Eddie.

Eddie Murphy takes a shit every morning that has more talent in it than Kevin Hart.

 

Kevin hart is far more tolerable than Martin Lawrence though and he was the guy who seemed to be trying to channel his inner Murphy.

 

Eddie Murphy was the hot commodity between trading places and coming to America. I even enjoyed Golden Child back in the day ( although it's horrendously awful if you were to see it now)

 

This is an absurd statement. Prime Martin shits on Hart. As a comedic actor and as a stand-up.

Martin never had a stand-out movie, but his sitcom was one of the funniest shows in history.

That show was funnier than ANYTHING Kevin Hart could ever touch.

Kevin Hart is horrible.

 

I can't motherfukin stand Martin Lawrence. Hart is at least unique in his style ( don't particularly like hart either btw) but Lawrence was typical coonery buffoonery

I think Martin is more overrated in terms of stand-up.

As a stand-up comedian, he doesn't hold a candle to Pryor, Redd Foxx, Murphy, Rock, and Chappelle.

But then again, Hart's stand-ups are overrated too. There's just NOTHING funny about Kevin Hart.

Martin has his show, which was legendarily funny.

 

I was gonna say Eddie Griffin shits on both. ESPECIALLY as a stand-up comedian. Eddie Griffin's stand-ups are funnier than Lawrence and Hart's combined.

I mean Lawrence plays the stereotypical black idiotic clown in nearly every role he's in.

 

I NEVER said anything about Martin's movies being good. The only Martin movie I like is Life, but that had everything to do with Eddie's performance and little to do with Martin's.

I said Martin gets rated for his SHOW, which was one of the best sitcoms of all time.

Everytime I see Kevin Hart on the screen or on the stage, I just wanna kick the little turd is his fuckin nuts. He tries WAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY too hard. Yeah, I can't lie, SOME things he says in stand-ups/movies will have you laughing. But after awhile, he's just incredibly annoying.

Guys like Murphy, Pryor, and Chappelle, those guys didn't have to try too hard on stage. It just naturally flows outta them.

 

I agree, since Pryor and Murphy, Chappell is the guy that stands out. Chris Rock is decent in stand up although he gets on my nerves at times too, but what I like about Rock is that he boldly goes where no man has dared go before. In terms of stand up I absolutely hate that motherfucker who's entire routine is based on "black folks vs white folks". What's that fuckers name again?

Chris Tucker is insanely overrated as well. In his prime he was decent but now he's horrendous.

Eddie Griffin is a brilliant stand-up comic. His comedy simply never translated over to the mainstream. Maybe because he's too "black" but I don't think that's what it is. His stand-ups are just darker and harsher than the average stand-up comic. Kev Hart is a star because his routines are corny/light hearted/and mindless, which is what the mainstream loves.

 

Nah not Paul Mooney, DL Hughley. I don't mind Mooney, I actually find him to be a rather intelligent and deep fella. Wouldn't surprise me at all to find out he's a fag ( he's married with children though I think), as he has a rather effeminate voice and manner to him.

 

DL Hughley talks about more than just race. HOWEVER, he's just not funny.

 

Hughley's main shtick is " white folks do it like this and black folks do it like that" always making blacks look like uneducated ignorant savages in the jokes. I can't stand him. He needs to die

 

Chris Rock and Chappelle can do the same shit, difference being they're extremely gifted and can make the comparisons sound hilarious.

DL Hughley's problem isn't his content - he's just not a talented comedian.

Can you picture DL trying to pull off Rock's infamous "Black people vs Niggaz" rant? It wouldn't have been a fraction as funny.

The greats can talk about ANYTHING and make you laugh.
