Edwin Valero commits suicide, hangs himself in jail.

Maybe he was killed and it was made to look like suicide?

 

Yep. He had become an embarrassment, which is odd, because I never thought that a "Venezuela De Verdad", such a model of equality, fairness and harmony, could ever throw up such a piece of shit as Valero. It is obvious, he had been spending too much time in the presence of Yankee Vipers, who plied him with women and alcohol, and made him violent.

 

There are alcoholics and murderers in EVERY country.You strip the flag and everything else, there lies a human being responsible for his/her acts and decisions.

 

It's a tragic situation, and very shocking. I feel sorry for the kids who were caught up in this whole thing, horrible thing to happen for them.

He was a piece of shit though, no matter how fucked up he may have been, it doesn't excuse it.

 

It's too bad this asshole took his own life and never payed for his crime.

Anyways this is the hardest boxer death to take for sure. This guy was in his prime and there were so many great fights he could of been in. 48 hours ago i was looking forward to his next fight now he is the new Chris Benoit.

 

it really is tragic how all this shit went down. i guess i was one of the few guys on here who was on the valero bandwagon.

now i'm beginning to wonder that it wasn't just roids that attributed to chris benoit's killing of his family. perhaps it's a mixture of both personal demons and substance abuse. alcohol sometimes is the worst of them all.

 

From a pure boxing perspective, this is terrible.

I think it's fair to say Valero was at least one of the 30 best boxers in the world. He made for a plethora of interesting fights.

 

Agree with what? The guy admitted killing his wife and wasn't prepared to accept the punishment for doing so, and took the easy way out.

In most spouse murder cases the perpetrator shoots himself in the head or something as soon as he murders the spouse but I had a feeling Valero would hang around

 

Makes me think though why didn't he kill himself right away ? Why did he confess and all and then do it ? Maybe he was murdered. Maybe he was framed!

Anyone else see that photo floating around of Valero's corpse? I was a little hesistant to view it, but my curiosity ended up getting the best of me, and now I regret seeing it..so I won't post it here.

Pretty grim stuff. I'm assuming one of the jail's guards leaked it.

Ok I just saw it. Whatever no biggie. I mean there is a video of Saddam Hussein getting hung which I think is more disturbing.

 

I predicted this a few days ago.

So I am one for one in predicting boxing suicides. Too bad I can't match that percentage in boxing matches. I based what I said on the basic belief that Valero was not a "psycho" in the clinical sense. He wasn't a guy who schemed in his basement, planning murders to protect his narcissistic world. He was an uncomplicated wife beater, violent and with an uncontrollable temper. He sounds like he was an alcoholic as well. I am sure he & his deceased wife went through round after round of:

angry Edwin->beat wife->maybe sober up->feel terrible guilt->I'll never do it again I love you->wife agrees and start over

Somewhere in there he won a championship somehow. Anyway, this time around when he got to the terrible guilt part there was no wife left to make up with, so the pattern is broken and he had to improvise to deal with the guilt. I do wonder just a bit if the authorities/guards didn't have an idea he was going to do this, but just let him do it anyway. It wouldn't shock me if he talked about this before he did it.

 

That's an unbeaten record to be proud of Sir...

Well, I saw his wife in Austin, and she was a little bitty, petite and pretty young thing.

I'm in shock. What a tragedy for the boxing world and a worst one for those two innocent kids who now are orphans. i only hope that this crazy guy at least left them some money saved in the bank they can use for their uncertain future. If not, if he spend it all in alcohol binges, the the mutherf@#$&r was worst than we think he was.
