Irish, you probably don't know this, but digital images are encoded with special information that identifies their time of creation, and other info that can show where an image originated.

REED stole images, as did ILLUMINATI, that did not originate from their computers. It's fairly easy to prove.

I'm sure they would check if it were considered stolen property. That's how websites protect their online pictures from being stolen.

First, Reed needs to be unbanned immediately. IMMEDIATELY. Did he get racist with Bama? Who gives a fuck. Bama majorly stepped over the line doing netcopping Reeds Photobucket account.

Bama's pictures were on public websites. That's free domain. If you post your picture on a website, it's open season. For him to cry to Photobucket is a self ownage worse than anything this board has ever seen. It blows away Rubio. It blows away Bama's previous ownings (Vizio, him being fat, etc), it blows away Petre\GTP....all of them.

You people need to put things in perspective. Bama crosses the line, and Reed gets banned? You have people on this site, most notably Hegman, threatening physical harm on other members, and Reed gets banned because he made a '3rd World' comment to someone who netcopped his Photobucket account?

If anyone deserves a banning...a permanent one at that, it's Bama. But that's step 2. Step 1 is get Reed re-instated right now.

Last time I checked the rules, I didn't see "Don't make fun of FightBeat" as a rule. I did see "Ethnic Slurs" will not be tolerated. If making fun of FightBeat is something not allowed here, then people need to be told about it.

GamingCove and VGLN Forums don't exist anymore, in fact they haven't for 5 years. I don't see how those forums have any relevance on these forums. You could have at anytime asked me to give you the IP addy's of those people, and I would have if you needed them.

Killing REED's accounts which had who knows what on them, possibly a good portion of his life seems like overkill to me.

How are we to know you wouldn't go to the same lengths with anybody else on this site you decided to get into an e-beef with?

 

Do you even know what "Fair use" provisions are? I don't think you do because Fair use is a term used mostly in commercial projects where profit is involved. But just to humor you, maybe you could explain how REED's use was a "fair use" case.

Fair use includes "commentary, criticism, news reporting, research, teaching or scholarship". I don't know about you, but REED's use doesn't include any of the above.

There are 4 factors that a judge will use to determine "Fair Use".

1. the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
One must demonstrate how it either advances knowledge or the progress of the arts through the addition of something new.

2. the nature of the copyrighted work;

3. the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and

To be honest, his Photobucket account may already be reactivated, but I'm not sure if any of the content is still there. It's unfortunate really.

Then you complain that REED is allowed to go unchecked when that is exactly what happened on your site. That is inconsistent to say the least. If you were fine with letting people attack me on your website, then what is the problem here?

To claim that the moderation is "shitty", as you put it, sounds kind of ridiculous when it was a moderator who banned the person you were arguing with for going over the line. You yourself said moderation was uneven, but you've been given chances here regarding things you've said.

I find this whole episode just entirely depressing. Wasn't this the place we came to relax and talk nonsense about boxing & boobs? It surely wasn't for talk of intra membership law suits. I actually told the mod who banned REED it was even handed and fair. It was shitty until that point, and other posters (Caligula) pointed that out as well.

As for you bringing up something from 5 years ago, actually more like 7 years ago, you can hover over that for another 5-7 years. I'm not going to waste time doing so.
