so if Floyd fights a 154 pounder, its a "tune-up"???

wasnt this guy the JUNIOR Lightweight champion not too long ago?

no wonder why everybody seems to hate this guy, the level of expectation is insane

Floyd isn't fighting any 154 pounders. Where did that come from?

Are you saying Floyd was a Jr Lightweight "not too long ago" if so that is freaking hilarious. The guys he wants to fight, Marquez and Pac were JR Lightweights a year ago, Floyd was oh over 8 years ago.

Communicate through another orifice and you won't have to listen to it again.

My apologies, I thought Berto had recently gone up to 154

regardless, Berto is a naturally much bigger man and he is fast... he is certainly a truer Welterweight than Hatton or PACQUAIO (for crying out loud!)

My point is that Mayweather started out as a 130 pounder and is a small dude compared to Berto who is natural to the weight... it is certainly not a bad thing or evidence of cowardice for Mayweather to fight Berto if he cant negotiate a fight with Pac or Marquez at the moment

Guys are making it sound like Wildredo Rivera is coming out of retirement to fight Mayweather

Berto fight would be tougher for Mayweather than either Pac or Marquez......:partie:...

Berto is definitely a solid come back fight for Floyd. No complaints from me if that happens.

It's a tougher fight than Marquez or Pacman who aren't even a year removed from being 130 pounders. Pac making the jump to 147 and beating Oscar was one thing, he shouldn't be taking on Floyd at that high of a weight. If Floyd is this small guy like his fans love to claim, he can meet Pac at 135 right? Unless he could make that weight, he has no business fighting guys who can.

No, my bad I did not consider Berto's weight. My point is that it is no good for a fighter to be fighting to pay uncle Sam... Sooner or later it catches up with one. I don't want to sound silly but what if Louis had really wanted to keep fighting and really wanted to beat Marciano? Would oit have made a difference? (rhetorical).

Also dog Floyd has my deepest sympathy. I don't like how our tax system seems to ensnare.... it really casts a web of sorts and it isn't right.

Its the same old story regardless of the orifice involved! I think Floyd's fighting spirit will suffer considerably.

Where are these reports of Mayweather and Berto fighting?

They both share the same management anyway I think.

You think? Speed kills and it is the worse variable when coming back to the ring. It fucks with your timing, your delivery and Floyd deals well with it but the first guy to get to him will be a speedster mark my words... a slickster who outslicks him on a bad night, a guy like Berto who is big enough to take a floyd shot and fast enough to get some shots in.

Floyd gets a bit rusty berto gets a bit confidant... realizes even with a bad chin that Floyd is no one punch Ko guy and boom!! Its on.

Berto is indeed a tough fight for Floyd. If Floyd was in the groove I would think it would be easier.

People seem to forget that Berto is simply a talented guy who doesn't know much about intangibles and has almost no defense. Floyd would have to be extremely rusty to lose to him, and big as Berto is he's been hurt by lesser punchers than Floyd. I really think Berto is going to get stopped, and won't be much trouble for Floyd as long as Floyd still has 2 things, his defense and ring smarts.

cdogg, Berto is a welterweight, not a 154 pounder.

And no Floyd wasn't a junior lightweight champ "not too long ago".

It was actually "long ago"

It's been fucking ages since Floyd was a 130 pounder, he grew out of that division just like Pacman, Morales, Barrera, Oscar, Tito etc etc etc grew out of their respective divisions.

Floyd is now a welterweight, just like Berto. He's probably a natural 140 pounder, but I think he'd have a tough time making 140 now, so he's currently a welterweight, so please don't think of him as a junior lightweight.

Anyway, as a tune up Berto is not bad at all actually. He's not great, but he can fight a bit, and at least he is young and undefeated, and should be hungry enough to try hard to beat Floyd.

Ultimately he's not that good and doesn't stand a realistic chance, but I think of far worse tune ups than Berto.
