Not surprising at all, there's a huge 80's, 90's bias in this forum (pretty standard since it's was the time when most posters here started following boxing).

I agree with 90% of this post. Just not the Pascal part. Eubank was simply a more talented fighter than Pascal. Not by an astronomical margin, but by a good margin.

Like you, however, I do find Eubank to be overrated.

The first Benn fight being by far the most impressive of his career.

It doesn't really help Eubank's case that he was at around in one of the most talented middleweight eras.

Jones, Toney, Hopkins, McCallum, and Nunn were all several levels better than Eubank.

As piss poor as middleweight is TODAY, however, Eubank would represent by FAR the biggest test for GGG.

At 168, I think Ward would have soundly outboxed Eubank. Well, the Ward of 3 years ago anyway. Ward hasn't fought in forever.

I just don't see what makes you think that Eubank was more talented than Pascal. If he was, he wouldnt have struggled and arguably lost against every half-decent fighters he faced, cause I dont see Pascal struggling and needing gift against these kind of guys. As I said before, they were at the level or below the level of Blanco, and Pascal wiped his ass with Blanco, without any trouble. Not that I think that Pascal is anything great himself, but a rational examination of Eubank shows that he's pretty much a fraud, who only fought carefully selected opposition and needed homecooking to beat most of it.

Agreed that Eubank would be the biggest test for GGG (bar maybe cotto, but cotto at mw is still a question mark), but as you said, the quality of opposition at mw is so poor that it doesnt means much.

Anyway, It seems that neither of us will make the other changes his mind, so I don't see the need to discuss this further.
    Peace

rubiomc (iirc). Just like this balding soft spoken harp player, it's clear that loadedgloves is a wimpy fag who act tough on the net to compensate for his lack of courage and life accomplishments. Good catch.

Studies on the subject have shown that in pretty much every case, internet trolls are social and/or professionnal failure. I would bet the house on that being the case for this miserable waste of flesh.

Agreed. Really not sure what it was with Chris, some sort of mental or confidence issue I guess, he's an odd guy.

Much like Zab, when he was on point, he was fucking good, with excellent speed and power.

It's got everything ... Stupid boxing observations, Humorous broken English, JOM losing his composure, flame war, typical mikE garbage, cagefighting dismissals, punk's incredible song, azazel consoling his roid raging bro, just a fantastic all around thread :atu:

ha fuck this place. Moderators no longer do their job, and it seems like the few posters left are more interested in childish bickering and name calling than serious discussion.

I voted Pascal just for the fuck of it. Irrespective of who's better, the comparison certainly isn't a ridiculous one.

Eubank was visibly better than Pascal, imo. Rocchigiani wasn't a bad fighter either, certainly better than Silvio Branco. JOM is a boxrec warrior.

Agreed with that this is a very legitimate debate. A case can be made for both

Bute was visibly better than Pascal (or even Froch) fighting against division one guys - he couldn't hang in the premiership. It happens often enough - our eyes can't be relied upon. And fuck, Eubank struggled enough with the level of guy he fought anyway.

I completely disagree. Bute has never looked anywhere near as good as Pascal or Frock to me, I didn't get the hype.

The difference is, at his best Eubank proved his worth against a very dangerous fighter in Benn, it's more than just "he looked talented".

He also beat Watson, and an old, 190 pound Eubank was actually ahead on the cards against a guy who beat Haye, only to get stopped because of an injury.

At his best, the guy could flat out fight, as simple as that.

What's the "level of guy" Pascal is fighting exactly? It's been a pretty awful era

if pascal didnt have a referee stop his fight with dawson in a rather timely fashion due to a cut, he was on the verge of being stopped. then jesus the mongoloids whole house of cards falls to shit.

Yeah, that statement was indeed a joke.

    Watson would have tattooed Froch.

Watson proved he was a better fighter than Eubank.
