One of my best friends is Portuguese, but he's as white as a fish's belly. I know people who turn golden brown when they tan, and they look darker than Camacho even though they are European whiteys.

 

A lot of people in my family are fairer than Camacho. Nobody is gonna be calling us white anytime soon

 

Um, Portuguese people ARE white, pretty much all of them, I've been there ::

"White" isn't about complexion only though, That's the mistake y'all are making.

There are some albino black people...and even fuck that, there are just some very light skinned black people that are lighter than some mediterreanean white people. Colour of the skin isn't the only determination of race classification.

Still, having said that, I tend to classify most latinos as white. De La Hoya is white in my opinion. Duran and Monzon were white also, IMO.

There are some Desi that are lighter than many white people, but that doesn't make them white. Some japanese are lighter than the avergae non pasty English white also.

I agree with you there, a lot of Latinos are white. Particularly Argentinians like Martinez, they are mainly from European stock.

And of course it's not about complexion, complexion is only one side of it. It's jst overall facial structure, features and genetics. Some South East Asians are of course paler than me, but they are not "white", their overall genetic structure is completely different.

 

I grew up with Portuguese kids in class who didn't look white. Jet black hair, dark skin---they didn't look white to me. A few of the kids had what looked like moustaches in grade school. :dunno:

 

You're East Indian, aren't you? I don't know of many white East Indians unless you count the people who bleach their skin a lot.

There are many WHITE Brahmins (Check out some Bollywood films) but they are still not Caucasian, they are Desi.

 

I think they were the exceptions. Portuguese are not South Americans, 90% of them are as white as me. Same as Spaniards.

 

Not my thing. I've tried watching them before, but there's just so much of a cultural divide for me that I simply don't get anything out of them. I respect the fact that they are musicals (which have virtually disappeared from North America on the silver screen), but the singing, mannerisms, and acting just don't connect with me.

 

Portuguese come in many varieties. My wife, for example, could be mistaken for Moroccan after tanning in the summer.

I dated a few other Portuguese ladies before her and one looked southern Italian, and the other two had blonde hair and blue eyes...and could have have been mistaken for Swedes.

They are all over the place like Italians.

Whereas Brits tend to look the same: very pale, no lips, no nostrils...what I would call unadulterratedly white. ::

Brits are to white people what central Africans are to black people.

 

I can't watch them either. Listening to the music is like torture. I've just seen the odd clip.

Spaniards are suprisingly rather pale, given where they are in Europe, and comparing them to Italians, Balkans and Greeks. The soccer team is a good example, not a single arab.

 

As I said before, in Spain they consider ME black :kidcool:

Ahhh, but you were in the north-west, virtually "little britain" without as much wrist-slap upbringings, and the Desi population in England would no doubt pale your contrast some.

But it does suprise me a bit that given temperatures in Spain are usually the hottest in the whole of Europe, that they dont have as much of a caramel glow like that of the Italians especially,.. I think the Italians are even darker than the Greeks,.. and the Greeks have 60% 'near-eastern' DNA,.. I think it might have something to do with the design of the country, it's a skinny humid fucker where apart from some mountainous regions, the oceanic influence keeps the people boiled year round.

 

True true, but I think they are pretty much as racist in the South, and not much better in places like Barcelona.

But yeah I have been to a few different areas all around the North of Spain, and they generally are all quite pale. It is surprising. They like being pale too, less gypsy like.

 

Haha, I'm only a quarter Anglo Saxon, mainly Jewish and Latin European. On the scale of whiteness, I'm similar to someone like Martinez. White, but not Hatton white.

Of course I was joking about them considering me black, but not far off, they are pretty damn prejudiced.
