It's basically a generation of what I call 'intelligent idiots' who for some reason jumped on an (Internet, obviously) 'Die Hard Christmas Movie' bandwagon.

Same people who probably say "Trivial Pursuits", "Dr Spock", "Chris Eubanks", "Mohammad Ali", etc

When I read Panchy´s opening thread-post comment about ´Die Hard does not count´, I really wondered what the fuck he was on about.

    Subsequently, we get a bunch of Generation-Y/Millennial knob-jockeys who list ´Die Hard´.

    Here’s two movies

    Miracle on 34th St.
    A Christmas Carol

    Here’s two more

    Die Hard
    Eyes Wide Shut

the first two are Christmas movies. They are about Christmas. The other two take place during that time of year. This is straightforward stuff, cuuuunt

Random person: “hut, what’s your favorite western?”

hut: “probably Midnight Cowboy... it has cowboy in the title and Jon Voight wears a cowboy hat... so that makes it a western ... my second favorite western is Coogan’s Bluff... would you like to pound my asshole?”

1 - And, irrelevant of Christmas anyway, notice the obvious link between the two in bold:
    a) This film follows the sexually charged adventures of Dr. Bill Harford, who is shocked when his wife, Alice, reveals that she had contemplated having an affair a year earlier. He embarks on a night-long adventure, during which he infiltrates a massive masked orgy of an unnamed secret society.
    b) This film follows off-duty maverick, wife-beater-wearin, wise-cracking NYPD officer John McClane who is caught in a Los Angeles skyscraper during a heist led by incredibly well-armed/well-dressed German terrorists.

´ohhhh, Lucinda and I watched this last night. Simply spellbound we were. the film's primal, almost religious intensity and power is primarily derived from its multifaceted realization that disobeying the dictates of society and your conscience can be both terrifying and exhilarating. ... we felt the film's depiction of sexual depravity and amorality could easily venture into the realm of camp in the hands of a lesser filmmaker, but Kubrick depicts primal evil in a way that somehow makes it seem both new and deeply terrifying. It´s got a Christmas tree in it, you know´
    :Jest:

2 - Who lists both the above in their favorite fuckin Christmas movies?

    Nah, we know your game.
    Goodnight, Hut, thanks for playing!

´Hey, kids! Now you´ve all opened your gifts and eaten Christmas Dinner, what festive-themed movie do you all want to watch? Kubrick's intense study of the human sexual psyche or Yippee-kay-ay, muthafuckas blowing each other away, HO-HO-HO!´

The thread question wasnt 'which movie SCRIPTS containing tropes, messages and arks commonly associated with xmas produced the movies you like best'.

The thread question wasnt 'what are your favourite xmas kids movies', either.

Films arent books. Its a multi media medium, including a VISUAL MEDIUM. It isnt reducible to the fucking typed out script. Thats just one of several elements the director uses to create the movie.

That being the case, you two....well....you lose. It wouldnae be amiss to have a horse in readiness magus - it'll be a bloody morning

Do you know what kubrick meant when he so conspicuously stuffed xmas laden imagery into every frame in the movie except the masked ball?

At the very least he meant the film to evoke xmas and for people to associate it with xmas. Which i do. Which is why i listed it.

    Hows that for simple, magus?

Its you two trying to set more complicated parameters here, ya paira pricks

I like how on TV each Christmas, some channels play “A Christmas Story” for 24 hours straight... some of them also play “Eyes Wide Shut”

No, you were trying to be ´student-clever´.
It´s like cunts who think ´Fairytale Of New York´ is the greatest Christmas song of all time because hey, it´s ´edgy´ and also it wouldnt be cool to say ´Merry Xmas Everybody´ by Slade, would it?

    I´m on it today.
Flying to the fuckin UK tomorrow night for CHRISTMAS, and the first miserable chode that even starts is going to get a double-leg takedown and a triangle choke.
´See? See what I learned from the Brazil Nuts?´

Then I´ll quaff on my first pint of Stella Artois in 4 years.
