Again folks, forum members and whoever else is interested in this site. I'm willing to work with you on how to buy the site, payment structure and time. Just tell me what you need, how you want to do this, and I think we can work this out.

There are several people in the forums that have expressed interest. I do hope we can get past the negativity and turn it into creativity. It doesn't take much to run the site but a group of guys willing to do it.

If I had the time I would be willing to take a chance. Me and my cousin (Legendary). I would be willing to sign a few good posters to do some articles and interviews. I just have my hands full with a FT job and my kids. I wish you will find someone that will have the time and dedication Cupey!

    Best of luck!:hammert:

Thanks. If you are able to help the new owners out in any way that would be greatly appreciated. Kids grow up to be a pain. Don't worry about them FB is #1 in your life hahahahaha

As far as cost to run the place. The only cost at the moment is the server cost - about $45 a month. These cost can be offset if you fix the google adsense links on the forums. The current template doesn't work well with google advertisement, actually it doesn't work at all hahahahaha

No offence, but I wouldn't pay half a quid for this site. It is worth precisely zero as a boxing website and the forum (which is the only thing worth much) can be transferred elsewhere for nowt.

    $3000 is a preposterous price.

Like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Maybe in your part of the world the site is worth nothing as a boxing site. But I can tell you if the countless amount of fights FightBeat writers have attended in press row. If you add up the amount of front row tickets we've received you will quickly see the value of the site.

Secondly, anybody who knows an ounce of traffic knows the links setup and the FB names has been circulated around the world via newspapers, online reviews, and other site references. It's amazingly ignorant of you to think the site has no value, but it certainly puts into question your own knowledge of anything but boxing.

With that in mind, I would prefer this thread be kept on a positive note and moving things in the right direction.

Most of this might have been valid a year ago, but right now it doesn't count for shit.

In the past, you may well have obtained press credentials. You might well have had access to lots of top fighters with exclusive access for interviews, exclusives etc.

HOWEVER, the facts of the matter are that you have allowed your 'asset' to become overwhelmingly devalued by your neglect. Your alleged 'credentials' as a relevant boxing outlet can be dismissed by any self-respecting promoter through a simple ten minute trawl through your homepage, which has been updated a bit in the last few weeks but then there is a HUGE gap of about six months at least. You have precisely ONE active writer who has any contact with any ranked fighter and he has become a caricature of himself; regularly engaging forum posters in banal offers to fights with himself and his boxer :notallthere: Your other remaining dedicated boxing writer, Mister REED, has contacts with some useful prospects but you have neglected his efforts so completely that he refuses to assist you in any way.

Moreover, the sad facts are that in 'my part of the world', i.e the UK, your site is probably worth MORE than it is to any North American purchaser, because I could buy it from you and simply turn the homepage into a UK biased boxing site featuring Khan, Hatton, Froch and the numerous other promising British prospects who will likely become 'world' champions very soon. Unlike the US, where boxing I am told boxing is on it's arse, the UK boxing scene is in good health and this would allow a more promising buisiness opportunity for me here. It is much easier for me to travel to UK fights due to the size of the country and there would be a plethora of cards to get access to, probably with the assistance of one or two of the other UK posters who are here.

But I wouldn't buy this site for a pound note. Your 'reputation' as a site is now negligable, you have a core forum membership of no more than three dozen posters and your homepage has descended into a joke. In all seriousness, you would have to be beyond NUTS to buy this website now.

    No offense.

Again, by your own admission you can turn this into something profitable or successful without really to much effort. Like you, others from the UK have contacted me with this same desire to do so, except they don't see things as blindly as you do.

I have access to any fighters I want because I was a PR person, I have tons of contacts, and can call any fighter I want. Access to fighters or promoters is not an issue and I can help anyone who takes over.

Secondly, boxing promoters help people who are their friends or they know. I was just recently given front row tickets to an event while every other media member was in some corner with a view of my ass.

In the UK, I've helped Frank Warren promotions on a number of occasions and if tomorrow I asked to go to any event I guarantee you anybody I send will be in press row.

As far as making money, with google advertisement, and text based advertisement you can easily cover your expenses. As a matter of fact, I'll be putting up a text link on the home page that's going to cover 1/2 the server costs, and I don't even ask people for advertisement--they contact me.

So really, either you know nothing about business or your blind hatred has simply made you ignorant of the facts.

and just to be clear, I have nothing against you or anybody here. In this case I think you are simply mistaken. I understand your points, but to make it sound like FB can't be turned around is a bit misguided and misinformed.

and just to be clear. $3K is my asking price, but with a reasonable offer I might do a little less. Reasonable is the key. I know the economy is bad so let's just work something out.

You appear to be missing the point Cupey. I don't deny that a person with some hard work and committment could turn this place around. Of course they could. But why bother paying you three grand to take this site and begin what would be, to all practical purposes, a complete re-build of a failed website? Why bother giving YOU any money when someone could simply go out and start a new site and put the exact same amount of work in but save themselves $3000?

Your site is only worth money if it has a reputation, advertising revenue and/or extensive contacts in the boxing world.

This site has no worthwhile reputation whatsoever, no brand recognition, nothing. Not anymore. This is due to your neglect.

Moreover, YOU might have contacts in boxing but your WESBITE does not. Not anymore. Seriously: when was the last time someone credible went to a big boxing event representing 'Fightbeat' with press credentials and published some work on the fight they attended? The fact that YOU have contacts means nothing once you sell up. In any event, how hard is it to get press credentials? Anyone with a vaguely competent telephone/writing manner could do it without any problem whatsoever. You know this for a FACT to be true and so do I.

By your own admission, this server does not even handle google-ads, so your ad revenue is almost certainly NIL.

In short, you want three grand for a website with a desert for a homepage, a faltering reputation, no brand recognition and no advertising revenue. Your 'customer' base is about 35 loyal members.

And I don't 'hate' you dude. Hell, I don't even know you. I'm simply stating the facts as they are, not as you would like to believe them to be.

For the record, I am willing to contribute to any business venture involving a new boxing site, but I am utterly unwilling to pay a single penny for this site.

LOL, your arguements are quite comical. Honestly, there is no need to continue this discussion with you. I thank you for your thoughts and hope you will continue to support FB and it's new owners.

And for those interested in the site purchase. It's not the server that can't hande google advertisements, it's the current forum template. I can change it from the list I have already, but I kind of like the current design. Of course, if I do continue the course then I will have to change it and implement a template that works with google ads.

    Thanks

    :atu:

I am not making 'arguments' Cupey. I am providing the irrefutable reasons as to why I am utterly disinterested in investing in what is left of this website. I do so to assist those who may also (as I have previously) consider the possibility of purchasing.

Well again I thank you for your thoughts. You've stated your reasons. Now I'd like to continue moving forward with people that are interested in the purchase of the site. Maybe in another forum we can discuss your reasons and be given the opportunity to refute your claims. At the moment my main interest is to provide someone the opportunity or the information necessary to purchase the site.

    Regards,

    Cupey

FYI. This thread isn't the complaint section. If you are interested in purchasing the site and would like to state your thoughts here then please do so. Otherwise I kindly request you refrain from posting.

    Cheers.
