I like what everyone is saying, and we could supplement our conversation with some inside information or the word on the streets. I do like the idea of a few guys just talking boxing. I don't want it to be like "Back to School" where Rodney Dangerfield weighs the book report and say "it feels light, it feels like a C. Bulk it up with a few multi-color graphs". I liike it to flow easy. The people know based on how we speak that we aren't just fans, but we have experience in the field. But we will try to implement more of the ideas shared here and Andrew Brown is going to organize us a bit more. Cupey
If I know anything about anything, it's radio. Next week you guys will see the beginning of a more polished product. The cusual flow is nice, don't get me wrong. I don't plan on getting rid of it. I just figure if we want to KEEP listeners, there should be a little stucture and a little more facts being thrown around. It sounds better when someone knows the facts, rather than searching their memory for something they know on the spot. It doesn't always come out properly.
Listening to the radio show again, I think it was great. I have every confidence that Andrew can help bring some improvements..but Carlos picked the topics that people wanted to hear about this week...and the discussion around them was excellent. Sure there would always be some obscure fighters and issues that would be overlooked in a one hour show...but the people that are listening to a boxing discussion THIS WEEK want to hear about people's thought on Calzaghe-Kessler, on the mosley-Cotto fight coming up, on Hopkins-Calzaghe...pacquaio-Diaz is a nice bonus...etc Overall Carlos did a very good job and he coordinates the discussion well. Looking forward to hearing Andrew on the show next week as well...and seeing his proposals...
Thanks Sly. I agree 100%. This is the best in terms of flow and everyone spoke well and in control. I believe with Andrew organizing us a bit more we will be a KO. Cupey
You folks here are getting great boxing radio for free here. No we are not perfect, but go to some of the other boxing websites and see what you get for free...nothing is the answer. This is top flight boxing radio for free by folks that know what the hell they are talking about. Karl
Sometimes you can't see the forrest because of the trees. I think we've provided constructive criticism and more importantly, we've been respectful and we're trying to assist in helping you make the radio show better. "Top flight" That's a stretch. There is room for improvement.
Why does he have to leave? Stop being a sensitive cunt already. The show is far from perfect and as far as your "guys who know what the hell their talking about" garbage I very much doubt anyone on that panel has more knowledge then your basic boxing fan. You guys state your opinions like you do on this forum. Only difference is your talking instead of typing. I mean really does anyone take slystaff or Karl's opinions seriously? I bet you feel real important when do the show huh? Like your contributing something important to boxing. Here is a reality check, your not.
Andrew: This punk "Maverick" is the same "Pernell Whitaker" that has been banned here many times, check his IP address.
Go fuck yourself. Just about anyone here who knows me knows this already retard including Steve Dave. Also, I'm not getting banned ever.
Dude...that's two transgressions in three posts on this thread (you already called him a c*nt"). One more and you're taking a vacation.....:warning: Just one.
Folks: This is an example of an insignificant poster that lives vicariously through others attempting to hijack and spoil yet another thread here on fightbeat. You want to say that to me in person whoever you are? Yeah right, you will. There is a terrific Rock Solid card at the Grand Plaza Hotel on November 29th in Houston that I would like to invite all fightbeat members here to, and come to ringside and I would like to meet all of you. Take care and I hope you all enjoy the next radio program. Karl
Karl is telling another poster to leave and all I did was call out his quote. My intentions were honest. After that yeah I went off alittle ::. I'll keep it clean though.
Listen little man afterall you are 5'4 aren't you? I made a simple reply to one of your posts. The radio show is decent but don't make it out to be more then it is, average at best. Your no authority on this forum. Get that through your head.
The radio show has been a lot of fun and we hope to take all of the good comments in this tread to improve on the show. You'd be hard pressed to find anybody you could really consider an authority. Just look at the people we watch. Merchant, Lampley, Pachecko, all good people but sometimes you have to questions them. So I don't expect people to agree with what we say, but be it known that we are stating our opinion based on our experiences inside and outside the ring. Cupey
Can we all just get along? :: I have a great idea to add to a post radio show discussion: How about any of you bold posters who are criticizing the panel for their opinions, challenge any one of us on the opinions that we've given on that last show and debate with us here for everyone to see. I welcome any challenge: in print, on air anything.... Bring it!!:warning:
I wasn't talking about your opinions. My point is any casual boxing fan can do what you guys are doing. Karl telling someone else to leave the forum if they don't kiss his ass or the shows ass is just ridicilous and thats why I had to put him in his place.
It would take you and about three friends your size to put me in my place, fairy. Sly: he is just attempting to ruin this tread.
Yeah but you are encouraging it. Just don't respond and just keep it about boxing. "Fairy" is unnecessary.
I'm not trying to ruin the thread. I haven't attacked anyone since my warning. I'm just making my point. If you can't deal with it then get lost.
Maverick - then state your opinions and make your point without the name-calling. I know you get it since you posted it already. Karl is just a tad defensive since the Radio show - and Fightbeat in general - represent blood, sweat & tears of people working for free to bring us all of that....it can be hard to take criticism when it's your personal labor. That...and Karl just has a hard time dealing with criticism of any kind, constructive or otherwise. Karl - FB Radio is a great idea and a solid execution....but there is always room to improve. Posters have offered constructive ideas and opinions - critiques that are SHARED by your fellow radio hosts, by the way. You've no right to ask people to leave the site simply because they offer ways to make FBR even stronger. I can understand you wanting folks to be more appreciative of what they get (and comparing the show to "The View" for example, maybe isn't the best way to provide constructive critique). But that doesn't mean we can ask people to leave simply because they believe it can be done better....if we do that, pretty soon NO ONE will be listening to FBR. Let's keep it clean. Peace.
I'm not sure what exactly is a "Casual fan". If you've listened to our analysis and comparision's you can see that everything comes from people who have been around the game. You know, there is no university for boxing so I'm not sure who do you qualify as an expert. Evander Holyfield believes you shouldn't be a judge if you've never stepped into the ring. Do you agree with that? But you can rest assured that everyone on the radio show has been involved in the sport of boxing in some capacity. Whether it be stepping into the ring, working with boxing promoters, matchmaking, or managing, the FightBeat crew can honestly say we aren't just your casual fan. Regardless, I understand where you are coming from Maverick. We are listening and taking notes. Just watch the show continue to improve. No it's not perfect, but it's certainly fun and folks enjoy our views. Cupey
