I got a shit load of his pics. When he posted them all, i saved them. Remember him flexing in the hallway? I got all of those.
REED has a Fucking BLAST on the Show!!...REED likes the Casual, Free Flowing Format... MOST "Boxing People" R CASUAL Sorts Anyways...Having Bert Sugar on ESPN Radio (for Instance) NEVER Seems like GENUINE Boxing Talk to REED...But Sugar & ESPN have the "Names", so Peeps Gravitate to that... REED is All for CONSTRUCTIVE Criticism, but when a Cat w/Barely 20 Posts is Chiming in, that's BULLSHIT:: ...Like REED Said, we're ALL Big Boys Here, so Offer your Opinions Under your USUAL Posting Name... N Fact, REED ENCOURAGES Any & ALL Feedback about how he's PERSONALLY Doing on the Show...Positive OR Negative...Either PM it or Let it Rip RIGHT HERE on the Thread...SERIOUSLY...If U Think REED SUCKS & there's NO Hope for him, SAY It...If U Notice a Handful of things that could HELP REED, SAY It.. REED WANTS to Get Better @ This & he Feels like the GROUNDWORK is Laid to Do Something Really SPECIAL... REED
:bears: I'm with REED. The talent is there... and it can be taken up a few more levels. One of the main reasons I do stuff like this is for the feedback. Positive or negative, if we're all going to take the time to do the show it's nice to know that people are listening and commenting.
I stand by my posts to all the good folks here, and thanks for the replies:bears: We will improve, no doubt!
The radio show was just as free two years ago. And people had plenty to say about it back then. Steve_Dave and Bug Eyed Earl never took offense to it. They took it in stride, even joining in on the jokes made Monday morning and throughout the week, and constantly sought ways to improve the show. People have a right to disagree and voice their opinion. Your job, now as a website radio personality, is to decipher the nonsense, absorb constructive criticism, and go into each show thinking how you could improve on the previous week. Getting defensive about it and comparing yourself to what other sites have to offer prevents growth. Even if you are the best, there's still always room for improvement.
This site has characters I'll give you all that. I think a welcome addition to the radio broadcasts would be to have more than the same few guys who as someone said, are basically schleps from the board with little to no insider info, and rotate and get other established people from the board to participate if possible. Unless Jake gets involved, because he seems to have some of that "breaking news" calibur stuff that would drive content. just my two cents
This is precisely why is difficult to take you seriously. Only insecure individuals can't accept constructive criticism. I think everyone would agree I've been nothing but respectful in my approach and yet it's still met with a childish response. Typical; yet not surprising.
Hey guys... We all (even Karl) appreciate your comments, both positive and negative because afterall we want to make it a great show. Like REED said I welcome criticism, because that's the only way I can improve. I'm my own worst critic anyway. :: But keep'em coming. If you think I say "definitely" too much....I'm working on it!!:: If I repeat the word "fight" too many times in the same sentence, I'll have my thesaurus out next time damnit!!!!!:: As I said before Cupey's doing an excellent job and Andrew Brown is a GREAT addition to the show as he expresses himself very well and obviously has great knowledge of the game. It's interesting how the radio show sometimes reflects different personalities than you would have expected from their posts on a forum. Great thread. All comments are noted.
:bears: Mav telling it like it is. No disrespect to Stinger, Sly or any of the other guys. But I think some of you lads are kissing your own butts a little too much in terms of your boxing 'knowledge' as Maverick said. But I would pay to hear steve dave discuss boxing even if he was a one-man show.
For what it's worth, I think you do a great job. What I appreciate about you and REED is that you're both able to check your bias in at the door, and approach any subject head on. But most of all, that you can present yourself in an objective manner, without coming across as wooden. It's a tough balancing act, but both of you manage to pull it off week in and week out. Just wanted to throw that out there, didn't want to make it seem like I despised the entire show :: Also, Cupey did a good job of preventing certain conversations from steering way off course, and also putting the brakes on any topic running far too long. I don't know if it was edits, or Cupey just immediately jumping to the next topic, but I noticed that everytime Karl would finish, he'd try to continue the already exhausted the topic with "Well, what do you guys think about that?" In the past, the conversation would continue, but this week, Cupey went straight to the next topic. So, good job on that part. The flow was solid for the most part. I just felt some things could've been eliminated had a little more research and preparation went into the show. There was no need to discuss how a Calzaghe-Pavlik fight would play out because: - there's a 99.9% chance that Joe's never coming to the States, and with Pavlik's star on the rise, Arum isn't about to ship him off overseas for anything less than eight figures - Pavlik-Taylor II is already locked up for February 16 Whatever lightweight fight happens next, there's a 95% chance it won't be Pac-Juan Diaz. And so on. But that's all I was getting at earlier in the thread. Research and preparation will be the difference between this just being a weekly show, and it being must-hear radio.
 Are you not the same man constantly telling us to listen to the Sly one and how "The Sly one has spoken" and how you always pass off your predictions as being facts such as prior to Taylor/Pavlik? Not that I mind, I enjoy it. But that's what self-ass kissing is.::
Thanks for the comments and the props. Much appreciated as usual. One thing I'll slightly disagree with..is that I see no problem with discussing matchups that are somewhat Mythical (e.g. Pac-Diaz, Pavlik-Calzaghe) because I think fight fans love to hear opinions about those types of exciting prospects even if the likelihood of them happening is small. But your comments are on point and worthy of all consideration.
hahah...guilty as charged. :: But that's my forum persona. In regards to the radio show I'd like to think I'm more humble.
To keep the show fresh, you should have guests on from time to time. How about an interview with Riddick Bowe?
I second what Jake has said, but I'll take it a step further. Five guys in the lineup is a bit too much. I'd like to see a tighter, well-oiled show and I think the core three of Bundini Brown, Sly and REED would accomplish this with Cupey serving as the moderator, setting those three up for discussions. As long as Cupey stays out of their way and directs the commentary and REED and Sly have more than 20 minutes prior notice to prepare, you'd have the show you think you have now. I've said this many times, but the absolute best HBO broadcast from 2006 was the first Mosley-Vargas fight when James Brown sat in for Lampley. That night Brown perfectly setup Steward and Merchant which prompted more conversation between the two than when the mic-hog Lampley runs the broadcast. Cupey has gotten much better (as Jake noted) at moving the conversation along and it's a much welcome improvement. I don't want to devalue the importance of the historical context Karl brings to the show; however, what he lacks is on-air charisma. A properly prepared REED and Sly would emphasize this even more. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have Karl in on the pre-show discussions to assist in the prep for the show. This would add depth to the knowledge base of the guys on the show which they'd transfer to the listening audience. Bottom line, Karl is valuable to the show...I just believe he'd be of greater value off-air, in a producing role than as an on-air personality. Bundini is clearly the best of the lot and with the right prep work, REED and Sly would be to him what Scottie Pippen was to Jordan. Just a few thoughts...
I noticed this too. Karl thinks he is the co-host. Which he probably is. Thats why i doubt Karl is going anywhere. Even if it is for the better of the show.
Stinger has street cred, he SHOULD be the co-host. Dude has murdered somebody AND has beaten the living sh*t out of a kid and threatened to kill him in a parking lot. The biggest baddest guy on the show deserves to host it and that's Stinger. The only person who's slightly bigger and badder than Stinger is steve dave. But steve will be back next week.
:nono: That's unecessary Hanzy. You're just trying to provoke Karl now. No need for that. If he reacts now I can't blame him...you set him up for it. Come on...let's be nice.
F*ck you on about, sly? I'm giving Stinger his props. The man has more street cred and murder-cred than anybody on here. That's badass sh*t right there. I'm actually a supporter of the Stinger.
