I'm picking Mayorga because i don't have much faith in Nando's punch resistance these days, but really no result would surprise me in this one.

    I'll go $50 with the first person that picks Fernando to beat Mayorga. I'm rooting for Mayorga. {Reed need not apply}

ha ha....its very good, for an edited post you have to love it, what you can do, when you cut and paste and omit

PS what does Tito have to do with Vitali??? Is Tito another Rican that Vitali "avoided" after John "Monster Munch" Luiz???

Vargas is shot, but he is by far a better fighter than Mayorga ever was. Vargas may have a shitty chin, but Mayorga is far past his best weight here and Vargas is a much bigger guy. The punches just wont have the same effect. Besides that Vargas hasn't ever been blasted out early and that is basically the only chance I give Mayorga. I think Vargas has enough left to box Mayorga's ears off eventually hurting him and taking him out.

    Vargas KO 7

I don't know. Mayorga has taken the same number of beatings as Vargas but has always been in far better shape at the end of them. Oscar and Tito really fucking laid Nando OUT. He looked like a car wreck when he was finished. Now Mayorga didn't look much better, but Vargas got badly wobbled by ex-welter Wilfredo Rivera too. I think Fernando is a basic shell of a fighter. Mayorga has a little bit more left- and when Fernando goes chasing fights he always gets fucked on. Look what happened with Oscar. He waited so long for that then plutzed and did Steroids.

This is pretty much exactly how I summed this one up in the other prediction thread...

This fight is all a bit silly, though...

    Vargas KO 10!

I think Vargas is just stronger at 166 where Mayorga has no business fighting.:nono:

at 154 I would go with Mayorga easly.

I do think early in the fight it will be exciting. I will definately be watching it. :cheer:

vargas is shot and brittle but he should have the edge at this weight. joke matchup which will only lead to another joke matchup when the winner lands a big fight. I hope for a tech. draw.

Vargas by Decision...but if he let that "i'm MACHO" shit get to his head..he will get KO'ed..he should be able to outbox Mayorga...throwing enough jabs/straight rights to keep Mayorga away...

I don't care enough about this fight to predict squat....

I'll just enjoy them beating the crap out of each other, which is actually somewhat tragic.

    I'm for sure picking Mayorga

As for significane.. I'd say Mayorga has alot more to gain of the 2.. he has solid wins over a potentially resurgent Vernon Forrest, and looked good against Tito before getting ktfo'd. Basically he's the same fighter he was when he beats Vernon. Vargas on the other hand has looked nothing other than completely shot in has last few fights.

LIke VArgas he also took ass whippings from Tito and Oscar.

Its a strange thing with Nando. But honsetly when you look carefully it is hard to make an argument that he was moved to fast... or to slow for that matter. I actually think that on his way up the ladder Nando made less mistakes than a guy like Cotto (against Torres).

I have come to the conclusion that it is just one of those things. But his age and relative shotness is truly disturbing.:dunno:

Valid points indeed. Nando came up slowly enough to learn how to fight Mayorga learned how to overpower a boxer.... Nando is first of all not a cutsey boxer like Forrest, he is a puncher.... similar to Shane in many respects actually. Mayorga has no answer for guys that make him back up.

I'm really on the fence with this one. On one hand, you know Vargas' punch resistance is pretty much done, and although he never had blinding speed his handspeed and reflexes have declined a lot. On the other hand something is telling me Vargas has most of the other advantages. He's a better boxer, he's bigger and the added weight will suit him well. Maybe that's enought to beat Mayorga.

I just don't see Mayorga being that effective fighting close to 170. He's never fought anywhere near that weight before and Vargas is pretty much a shruken middleweight his whole career.

I'm picking Vargas by UD, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mayorga knocked him out.

Vargas by early KO...Mayorga hasnt had a knockout in years. After getting too fat for welterweight he couldn't even hurt Pricillo. And Vargas gets hurt with punches he doesnt see. Mayorga telegraphs way too much to land anything like that. This will be an easy work for Vargas.
