Sanders-Klitschko was surprising but only in one direction.

Casamayor had at least three surprises. One, that Casamayor put him down twice in the first round. At that point, it had the look of a possible Sanders-Klitschko type blowout.

Then after several rounds, it appeared maybe headed along the direction of Rafael Ruelas-Freddie Pendleton or something, as the fighter nearly out in round one got back in the fight and started doing well.

Then, Katsidis hits Casamayor with a left to the body and he eventually falls out of the ring, has to struggle to get back inside, and it appeared at that point Katsidis might be on his way to a stoppage.

Casamayor started to get back in the fight after that and going into the tenth it was still on the table and as Katsidis opened up the tenth trying to make something happen he got over-aggressive and was hit with a titanic left on the button that put him down and all but out.

The fight path was reminiscent of Trinidad-Vargas. It's a pretty dramatic script for a world title fight.

To compare it to Sanders-Klitschko in any way seems ludicrous and pointless.

Mitchell Kane...I get what you're saying, bro, and like I said, I do believe Casamayor-Katsidis was a great fight and definitely a contender for FOTY.

I simply think Vaz-Marquez III and Pac-Marquez II are better because of the higher skill level and the fact that there was alot more on the line in terms of the history and the stakes.

And Vaz-Marquez III was an absolute slugfest on top of the skill and drama.

But no bones about it, Casa-Kat is a great one and I can understand what you're saying....the shifts in momentum were dramatic!

    Peace.

I like the conclusion of Casa-Katsidis better because it was conclusive. I thought Vasquez-Marquez III was clearly a better fight though.

I have now seen all three fights (minus rounds 3 and 8 of the Casamayor fight, because tsn had to make time for curling  ), and I have to say that Vazquez/Marquez 3 was the best fight overall (skill, excitement, drama), but Casamayor/Katsidis was the most dramatic fight, with the best ending. Pacquiao/Marquez 2 was also a great fight, though. Just below teh other two.

You're too late for your opinion to be valid, even though you do agree with me.

    Better luck next time.

Seriously though, Casa/Katsidis was even a better action fight than I expected, plus it had great drama from round one. It would be hard to beat for the FOTY honors in most years, but this year has had some memorable fights, and it's still march.

The funniest part of the fight was when Katsidis hit Casamayor on the break, and Casa threw his hands up in disgust over such dirty tactics.
