:bears: It's a labor of love. Good luck Cupey, hope you make a mint. Or at least hand it off to somebody who will keep the place going.
I'm very, very interested if I can find the right partners. I don't want to do it solo. PM me if you want to talk about going in on this thing.
If i lived i New York or Vegas i'd be interested, but i'm way too far from any real action in boxing.
$40. I'm serious. I'll bring back Alabama_Man and make him an admin, along with Jaws, Ike and Charlie Zelenoff. Plus, I have experience covering fights and writing about sports.
I guess the price including everything, domain name, actual website, along with the traffic value would be something like 5 grand
$5000? That's ridiculous. There aren't more than 10 or 20 people viewing the website most of the time.
it took many years to build the site. i think it's high up in the alexa ratings too. the site's layout is pretty good. only work that needs to be done is hiring good writers, which the site doesn't have (perhaps never had?). i think 5k is a fair price.
another good thing would be to "sell out" to some promoter, to have a real financing behind it. So the site can be used to promote their events, coverage and a platform to market their fighters.
by "good thing" I mean making the site profitable, it's a business, not a damn hobby. Not many ways to keep a boxing site alive and running, let alone having 10 people on payroll earning good money. Do you have any other "fair and clean" idea of getting a site like this on the level of popularity and traffic of Maxboxing or Fightnews, let alone the profits?
There are other ways to make mony off of promoters than basically selling out your site and becoming a PR Firm for a promoter.
Think about it. After this initial purchase, there aren't really any expenses after ther server costs, which if you really wanted to, you can get at some cheap rates through other people. Carlos set up the site perfectly. He's got it featured on search engines, it's rated high, and he's got a forum that keeps pageviews at a retardedly high rate. All you have to do now is look for advertisers, which if someone knows what he's doing, it shouldn't be too hard, and manage a staff, which can get very tedious, but is extremely helpful to the growth of a site. Carlos is lobbing one out there to whoever is willing to knock it out of the park.
I don't know what the site is actually worth. $13,000 is a nice number. Where did you see that Arben. I'm not saying I even want that. What I really want is somone to make me a decent offer and that's going to keep the site running as well as take it to another level. There is lots of money to be made. You can easily recover the investment from google adds and video commericials.
Those server costs are next to nothing. Honestly, I think Carlos is making a mistake by selling it, but obviously, he has his reasons to let his baby go. I would jump at it in a heartbeat, but I think it's a bit out of my spending range. http://estibot.com/ It uses an interesting method. Obviously it doesn't take EVERY factor into the equation, but it's interesting nonetheless.
damn, it'd be weird having someone other than Carlos running this thing. I mean as much as we go at it, he's still a nice guy, whatever it is thats making you want to step away from this, I hope things are good for you and that whatever it is gets resolved/is comfortable.
How much does it factor in that Maxboxing is partially a pay site? Eastsideboxing comes in at USD 64,000.
