Blew the Campbell prediction bigtime. I did, however, get the Katsidis TKO correct, but it was in 3, not 11. Picked Khan, but I didn't think he'd stop the featherduster with greasy kid stuff in his hair.

Cool thing - i'd like to take part in this the next round.

I didn't read the first three pages but from a betting point of view:

It's cool that u want to reward a draw, but the points for that don't reflect the frequency draws occur - 10 rounds for a correct UD and 25 for a draw.

Anybody who predicts draws here has no understanding of statistics then, same for SD/MD compared to UD or correct rounds which are way harder to predict than a UD. there are 12 rounds where the KO can happen but no 12 types of decisions.

Well yeah the same goes for picking the underdog if there is one. Let's say if u have Khan Malignaggi and u get the same amount of points for predicting a Khan UD as u get for a Malignaggi UD you would be stupid not to pick the favorite all the time. So eventually if you play long enough, picking the favorite all the time will get you the pole position.

But since the rules are the same for everybody, you can always follow that strategy. :bears:

Point taken, as I said before any suggestions for improvement with the scoring system is welcome, what would you suggest for the UD situation?

One of the things I was considering was giving bonus points for predicting the amount of knockdowns in the "main event" fight of the round. What do you fellas think of that?

I think the less complicated the better. Dunno about the knockdown thing but yeah if it's just for one fight it could be fun.

The draw problem is eliminated by leaving out draws, otherwise you could have taken into account how likely the draw is. But as i said if u take into account the likelyhood of outcomes then you would have to go as far as giving odds for certain fights and props. Just like betting sites do it and you win when u have the most money.

But i think the more simple here the better. So i would put SD/MD/UD altogether to points. and predicting a KO is as good as predicting a points victory predicting the round could be a bonus or predicting early(middle/late rounds.

FightBeat Prediction League II. Round two!

OK guys, here's round two, good luck to all. Can the front runners hold on to their lead or was it just early luck? We'll see!

    Scoring system:

3 points for predicting the correct winner

+3 points for predicting the correct method of victory (KO, Points or DQ)

+4 more points for predicting the correct round or type of decision (UD or SD). Please also note that I won't differentuate between a MD or a SD, they're both the same in this scoring system

25 points for correctly predicting a draw

0 points for predicting the wrong guy to win the fight

So basically, to use two examples, if you predicted Mayweather to KO Hatton in round 10, you would get 10 points, if you predicted Mayweather to beat Mosley by SPLIT decision, you would get 6 points. Simples. For between rounds stoppages, I'll go by whatever boxrec says.

    Technical Decisions

In the event of technical decisions, it will go by what TYPE of technical decision it was. We have a perfect example with last weeks fight. If you had predicted Williams to beat Cintron by SD, you get 10 points. Technical draws still count as draws. No Contests will be deemed null and void, so don't even bother predicting a NC, you won't get anything even if you're right. Plus you will be reported for match fixing...

    Bonus Points

If you get ALL 3 fights 100% correct, basically 10pts x3, you will have achieved the Full House Bonus, and your points total will be doubled. So there is a potential 60 points on offer, even more is possible if a draw comes in amongst your predictions!

"How many fights each round? And when will the rounds be?"

One of the problems with the last tournament was that there was more quantity than quality, especially during quiet weeks. This time there are only 3 fights to predict instead of 5, which allows for more quality matches to predict, and less obscure matches from the outer regions of Burkina Faso. This also makes it easier to achieve the bonus points via the Full House Bonus. There may be exceptions to how many fights there are to predict in a round if there is a particuarly stacked weekend of fights.

There will be 12 rounds of predictions, and the rounds will take place when there are decent, well-matched fights taking place. I'll make sure to give you guys a heads up when there's a round coming up. All fights are 12 rounds unless stated. Friday night fights are also included this time.

    "Anything else?"

    You can join the league or leave at any time, just be aware it will affect your standing if you miss out on points by missing rounds or joining late! Any predictions made after the fight has taken place will obviously not count. When making your prediction please simply put the winner plus your method of victory and round if you're going for a KO or DQ. For example;

    Khan KO 1

    or

    Khan UD

And that's the rules out of the way! Let's get on with the fights:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Thanks and good luck!
