FightBeat Prediction League - ROUND SEVEN. Hatton Vs Pacquiao...your picks please

Well, this is actually the round I was looking most forward to so far, and one which may actually prove pivotal in the Title race as the majority of the fights are competitive, and the main event obviously is the hardest to call since Khan - Barrera all the way back in Round One.

Here are the rules once again:

    (1) You CANNOT change a prediction - I will take only your first post with your predictions, make sure and double check what you post is what you are actually predicting.

    (2) No editing posts. Any evidence of editing your predictions means you're a cheating little fooker and no one likes a cheating little fooker, so you will be disqualified

    (3) Please post your predictions before the deadline, in this case the deadline is saturday before 6pm, I'll go by board time.

    (4) You can predict in as many rounds as you want to, leave and come back as you wish, although obviously it makes sense to post predictions every round if you want to accumalate enough points and have a decent shot at winning!

    Those are the rules...Shimples!

    How it works:

The points system works as follows:

3 Points for predicting the correct winner

6 Points for predicting the correct winner and the correct method of victory

10 Points for predicting the correct winner, the correct method of victory and the correct round/type of decision

20 Points for predicting a draw correctly. I will not differentuate between a standard draw and a technical draw. As long as the official result is a draw and you predicted it, you get 20 points my son. No Contests will not count as draws before anyone asks, however, if you happen to correctly predict a No Contest then I will report you to the relevant authorities, because that shit is fixed...lol

There are now a potential 75+ points available for correctly predicting all five fights 100% correct under the Five Fight Slam rule. So that means correctly predicting the right fighter, the right method of victory and the correct round/UD or SD in ALL FIVE fights. Sounds hard to do? It fucking is! But get it once and that could be all you need to win the Title!

If any of the five fights are called off and there are less than five fights in one round because of this, then the Five Fight Slam bonus will not be available, even if you predict the remaining four fights 100% exact.

For ease of tallying up everyones predictions, please don't write an essay because no one wants to read it, just keep it simple like the example below

If you pick Floyd to beat Hatton by 10th round KO put your prediction down as

    Floyd KO 10 Hatton

I will make no differences between a one punch knockout, a corner stoppage, bla bla, it all comes under KO. In the event of a between rounds stoppage, I will count a correct round prediction as being the round before or after, for example, if Hattons corner pulls him out between rounds 10 and 11, anyone who predicted Floyd KO 10 Hatton or Floyd KO 11 Hatton would get 10 points.

If you pick Floyd to win a unanimous decision over Hatton, please put your prediction down as

    Floyd UD Hatton

Make sure you specify as to whether its a UD or a SD as if you get it correct it will give you the full 10 points, where as just saying "Floyd wins on points" would only get you 6. For the benefit of the rules, and to not be a petty twat, there is no difference between a majority decision and a split decision in this game.

With regards to TECHNICAL DECISIONS, I have decided to keep the rule in place where a technical decision will count as the type of technical decision it is, as we had with the Khan fight in the first round, it ended in a Technical UNANIMOUS Decision, so anyone who predicted a Khan UD got 10 points.

    Now onto the important stuff.....

    ROUND SEVEN FIGHTS

    Ricky Hatton Vs Manny Pacquiao

12 x 3 minute rounds. MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. IBO Light-Welterweight Title.

Highlights of Hattons last fight against Malignaggi

Highlights of Pacquiaos last fight against De La Hoya

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    Humberto Soto Vs Benoit Gaudet

12 x 3 minute rounds. Undercard of Hatton - Pacquiao. WBC Super Featherweight Title.

Sotos last fight against Antonio Davis (which was a fight in a previous round)

Couldn't find any highlights of Gaudet, but here is his record

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    Danny Williams Vs John McDermott

12 x 3 minute rounds. Crowtree Leisure Centre, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK. British Heavyweight Title.

The two have fought before, with Williams claiming a highly controversial majority decision win over McDermott, despite having three points deducted. Here is round 5 of the first fight, if you check the links on the side, there should be links to other rounds of the fight.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Thomas McDonagh Vs Sam Webb

    12 x 3 minute rounds. Undercard of Williams-McDermott. Middleweight.

No highlights of McDonagh, but here is his record, which includes the most unintimidating nickname ever
    http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=14831&cat=boxer

Sam Webb was involved in a near-tragic bout with Gilbert Eastman (brother of Howard) in October last year, where Eastman collapsed afterwards and was taken to hospital, thankfully he made a good recovery. This clip shows Webb walking into the ring with Eastman before his last fight against Max Maxwell, and also shows some clips of the fight.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Anselmo Moreno Vs Wladimir Sidorenko

12 x 3 minute rounds. Halle 7, Bremen, Germany. WBA (ordinary :dunno:) Bantamweight Title

The two have fought before, Moreno actually outpointed Sidorenko via UD to win the title last year, in what was Sidorenkos only loss thus far. Here is part one of the first fight

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you guys, and good luck, thought I'd post it earlier as it gives you more time to ponder over your predictions!

    Best of luck!

I should be winning but I had an injury that kept me out for two rounds.
Nasty paper cut on the left index but ya''ll be delighted to hear I have fully recovered and want that belt.

Only because I slipped up and had a bad week! I wasn't myself that week, I was injured, I didn't train properly, I ate bad shellfish and got a blister on my toe because I didn't have the proper shoes!

Yea the fighters themselves aren't the best, but the actual fights should be quite competitive, so I can see some posters getting alot of points, and some getting next to nothing!
