this site needs an owner who does some work.....i remember when all these people bought DVD's from him, and he collected the money but didn't bother sending out any fucking dvd's ::

 

Soliciting articles through a messageboard for a static homepage that can only be updated by one person is perhaps the worst way to do what you're trying to do.

I appreciate REED's effort if not his syntax but man, don't waste your time. The fundamentals of this place are so bad.

I would agree that REED would be great to run the news side of this place, but only if he or someone else has the ability to actually put work on to the site. Cupey is pretty inconsistent in that regard.

 

Earl, a simple page like that can be static. Isn't fightnews just one huge static page? It doesn't need to be dynamic really.

However, only Cupey being able to upload is a problem. Just set out each article, newsbyte etc in a nice little self contained DIV, teach the contributors to copy and paste the div, then add their own content, give them some FTP software with the FB account on it, and bob's your uncle.

Unless you're a complete moron, you'll be uploading new content to the homepage in no time.

Well the problem is that I actually have a fucking job to do also and then I edit the videos do the photoshop work maintain the database, pay the fucking bills, and the only thing some stupid mother fuckers on this board can do is say that it's my fault. GO FUCK YOURSELF AND DIE ASSHOLE. When one of you people taking shit do 1% of the shit I've done feel free to talk crap, until then just keep your fucking mouth shut.

Now, back to business. Once we've established firm people to do the job I will take the time to explain to people how the job gets done. it's simple yet sometimes complicated. Some people have done it in the past and sometimes to make things right it requires a little HTML knowledge. So that's where the problem lies. The site needs programmings skills sometimes because it was put together with glue and bandages. It mainly works, but there are some quirks.

In any event, it looks at the moment that Reed will be the man to run things, so he'll be the man to work with and get shit done. I'll continue to help with some of the technical issues until everyone has an established role and we work things out.

Actually, there is an ability to do this already, I've just never told anybody how to use it. Members can sign in to their own section and edit their own articles. I'll have to see if there are any problems with it before I start this process.

Well this is why we are going to try something new. The task of running the site is really more than one person can handle. Hopefully we can put some checks and balanaces in place so this doesn't happen again.

I hope you mean it, man. I really do, because there is alot of good things about fightbeat and I'd like to be apart of helping it through to the next phase of its being. But, (while I didn't mean for what i said to come across nasty) it really does start with you. It's only going to go as far as you let it.

 

It's directed to someone you know and any other asshole on this board that falls into that category. You do a lot for the site so it can't be you.

Well everyone has their limitiation so hopefully I can overcome mine and put some good people around me that can help make the communication between the FB Staff Writers and the content publishers better for all involved. I think we need someone else to help Reed too or he'll fall into the same situation I was in.

Thats quite possible. I always think you need guys who operate on different clocks, so someone is always available if the site admins need to be contacted. Thats just a thought.

Some of this stuff is probably best solicited off the forums though, so I'll shutup.
