Fightbeat top 20 p4p of all time.

Hey Hut*Hut, I didn't include Henry Armstrong because he did most of his fighting (and had most of his title fights) prior to 1940. I have now seen him on a couple of lists. Is he eligible for this topic? Because if so I need to add him to my list.

 

What's interesting is that just 10 years ago, Trinidad likely would've made it on several of the lists entered here. The question is, if he did deserve to be on the list 10 years ago, what's changed?

 

Nah, Im not gonna count him. Sorry to those who included him, I'll just bump everyone below up one. Feel free to edit your lists and add another guy at 21, who I'll count as being No20, if you like. It's a grey area but Im gonna include Joe Louis since so much of his career was post 1940....though obviously we're counting his accomplishments before then too. It's all a mess but I figured it better than us getting bogged down in discussions about Sam Langford and Jimmy Wilde that too many of us would be ignorant about.

FWIW, if he was included Hank'd be my No2.

 

People who were once too stupid to have ANY perspective concerning him were painfully introduced to the real world by B-Hop and Winky. Ditto RJJ & Tarver, Mosley and Forrest etc. Some people always overrate the superstar dejour, hence me not wanting to include Floyd & Manny right now until the dust settles.

Armstrongs greatest accomplishments occured before 1940, thats the only reason he isnt on my list... if it were an all-times list, he'd be right behind Robinson at number 2

 

Absolutely. Some people seem to forget that the cruiser version of Holyfield was a BEAST. He was unbeaten at the weight and quite possibly the best who ever fought there.

True, but the move to heavy is what bumped him from a great fighter to an all-timer. Because the Cruiserweight division in the 80's was really, really not good outside of Holyfield.

Absolutely. Had he stayed at Cruiser, Holyfield would have been champ for a really long time. And yes, the "Loss Machine" comment regarding Holyfield was ridiculous...as was his finding a place for Terry Norris in his top 20.
