But Froch in 2010 is as good a fighter in 2011, and we didn't give Kessler Fighter of the Year for or even shortlist the dude {at least I don't believe so} for an absolute career-saving, outright tear-up with the same guy.

Froch in 2011 is also a better fighter than Cotto is in 2011- try to remember that. We've been down this road before- Cotto has a few miles on him too. He was getting eaten up by Pacman when Margarine was off investing in US Gypsum.

I really feel Cotto was on the precipice going into that fight. Lose and a really good career went down the pisser. You don't like me for bringing in extraneous matter but I feel it is pertinent, the measure of a fighter is how he deals with withering pressure- in and out of the ring.

Well, this is obviously a shallow year for FOTY. Kessler wasn't considered last year because Martinez simply had the much better year. Most FOTY's over the last decade or so had better years than Ward did in 2011.

Still, at least his best opponent was a legitimate top level fighter, with two working eyes.

I've had a quiet year watching boxing, my interest in this rat festival wanes every day. If Wlad followed it up with a couple more victories then maybe he could be considered, but apart from the 'Everybody wants it, one way or another' showdown that got the 'bellweather' Bernard Hopkins watching with interest, one still has no choice but to believe it was a year of 'injuries' and proposed mismatches for the drug addled robot.
If it is considered as part of the criteria, that Ward won the final of a great tournament this year, then I'd be happy with that,..still, I've no idea about the midget divisions to compare it with. Someone mentioned Lamont Peterson,.. but I dont think he won that fight, so personally I would reject him,.. I do think Ward is a fair enough front-runner, he only beat the 5th best supermiddleweight, but it was the year that officially crowned him king of the deep, which creates his own bright glow more than his embarrasing, pale arsed irish father did,.. good god, that should have been kept a secret .
