Jose Napoles lost and regained the 147 lb title to Billy Backus by TKO. (both stoppages were due to cuts).

I think you could possibly put both Israel Vasquez and Oscar Larios in this category (though just IV if you're talking about title fights).

Good examples. Although I'd only give it to Larios, because he lost the first fight by KO.

In the same way I could have included Tony Zale, but didn't because he already knew that he could KO Graziano (the first fight) so it's no quite as impressive as what Graziano did in the rematch, IMO.

Hopkins ducked all the best middleweights or kept his mouth quiet when Benn or mccellan was around.

Notice he only jumps up to Light-Heavyweight when there was nobody around

Nigel Benn left the middleweight division in like 1991, when Hopkins was still an up-and-comer fighting club fighters on USA Tuesday Night Fights.

The G-Man wasn't a champ for that long before he left middle and then got permanently disabled. Around then, Hopkins was working his way up the IBF rankings and won that title.

The beating Louis put on max was cruel. Looked like a man beating a 12 year old retard....Likewise, max gave him one in the first match too....

    Yep.

Wladimir has been added to the exclusive list! I have a great deal of respect for a fighter who can step back into the ring against the man who previously knocked them out and then knock them out in return.

    He's a bad man.

Not really! He knew he mainly gassed in the first fight and that Brewster didn't go anything spectacular and basically was a much lesser fighter.

Getting back in with Sanders would have been much more impressive, because he was properly bombed out by a very dangerous puncher. He never made a peep about avenging that one though, but left it to his big brother instead. Didn't go near Purrity again either.

So one out of three ain't that great. :nono:

You have a point. Still one out of three is better than Tyson has done, Jones and many others.

Bullshit, once you got past 2-3 rounds with Sanders it was easy street. If he rematched Sanders and beat him in the same fashion that his brother, then people like yourself you would come back with "Big deal, Sanders is 40 yrs old, Sanders never had any stamina, Sanders is a club fighter, bla, bla, bla." One out of three is great. Avenging a knockout loss in dominating form is definately something that should be respected. Getting over that mental hurdle is a big deal.

Lol, if he had rematched Sanders and beat him I would have said, "Big Deal", and not meant it ironically. As it happens he didn't even make a peep about getting back into the ring with Sanders after getting totally KTFO, before he gassed or had time to be "drugged/poisoned" or whatever.

    You'd think he'd want to avenge a no-excuses ass-kicking like that wouldn't you?
