I think moorer would have a hell of a chance, and tarver obviously.........

Moorer figures to be too crude, but yeah, he's dangerous. Moorer struggled with a washed up Leslie Stewart. Roy's a clear favorite.

As for Tarver? Nah, Tarver doesn't have much chance against the 90s Jones. He has the chance of landing that same kind of overhand left again, but that punch most likely doesn't land on peak Jones.

I dont know, tarver has beaten Roy in the am, he always seems to be a stylistical problem for him. I was a huge rj fan at the time and really hated that fight cause i thought tarver had a hell of a chance against him (and their two matches (well three) kinda comforted my opinion)

Jones from the Reggie Johnson fight beats Tarver wide IMO.

And Moorer's chance of beating Roy isn't significantly higher than Stevenson's. All he has is a fluke chance of landing one, which isn't likely at all.

If anything, the three southpaws north of Hagler whose chance of beating Roy is the highest are Calzaghe, Pops and Lytell. Not that I pick them for one second, none are remotely good enough, but a pressure fighter is what troubled Roy more than a boxer-puncher, especially on the inside. Pops has the same puncher's chance as Moorer, he's just more likely to go out on his shield trying to get it. Calzaghe's style against Jones would be to essentially fight him like an octopus. Even still, he has a higher chance of winning than Moorer IMO. And Lytell's frantic pace, endless pressure and granite chin, along with having more experience than everyone else put together seems to be perfect for Roy. Not that I pick him to win, but if any southpaw was gonna beat a peak 168lbs Roy, Lytell is as good a choice as any.

Pops has a better chance than Calz.

Calz has NO chance at all against a prime Jones. Zero. Even he knows it.

The precious few times that Roy was able to let his hands go against Calz, he looked better.

He was just too shot to get off at all.

Yeah, I would agree with that. Moorer was a different class than the pimp. He certainly is more live against Roy than Stevenson.

Moorer was certainly better, but he surely wasn't quicker than Stevenson. But yes, moorer has a much better chance imo

Stevenson was more fast-twitchy and explosive. Moorer had quicker hands.

Yeah, Joe has no chance at all.

At least Moorer has a remote puncher's chance. Joe doesn't even have that.

I don't see Calz as a particularly hard fight for prime Roy. Joe would get his ass kicked all over the ring.

It's true, apart from Crawford I guess. I think it's just because of his low ring IQ, he just thinks "fuck it" and throws hands.

If you can beat a southpaw to the punch, they're as easy to beat as anyone else. That's what Khan thrived on.

And I suppose the fact that he only ever fought one southpaw with great timing, and he was completely undressed by him.

Donaire has always been a little bit vulnerable against southpaws. Has a couple of impressive wins against them to be fair (albeit I never quite got the hype around Nishioka) but usually his level dropped against them and he was a sucker for their jabs, as well as struggling to establish his own. Even in fights he won against them such as Narvaez he usually looked a little more workmanlike then normal, and then there are the losses to Rigondeaux and Magdaleno.
