Loma vs Salido is also an obvious example of a fight where a rematch would for sure go the other way. Loma would know how to deal with Salido's rough tactics and would have beaten him more decisively had they fought again.

Lewis is my favourite fighter but I totally get what people are saying with the Vitali stuff. Vitali was not scared of Lewis at all and was well up for a rematch, I don't think Lennox was scared of Vitali either but he'd aged and like BOSS said just wasn't into it any more. He'd cleared out his own era and technically had a win over one of the best from the next, so why carry on?

I don’t know if Lewis had it in him mentally to get properly prepared for a tough matchup, and retired accordingly. I remember after he lost to Rahman in South Africa, Larry Merchant talked about how it’s often harder for older, more accomplished fighters to get up for fights and train like they should. I think he brought mid 30s Ali as an example.

Well, 3 fights after being knocked out by Rahman, Lewis again underprepared. He was the heaviest he had ever been when he fought Vitali. Vitali talked about how he could tell Lennox was not in good condition. He had plenty of motivation for revenge against Rahman and Tyson was Tyson, but when it came time for “just another title defense”, he got lazy again.

Lewis gutted out a tough win, but probably knew he was losing some of the edge and retired.

Pretty much all the flukish losses Randall Bailey suffered would have been avenged thus making him a six or seven time champ

This is factual, as in his lone rematch he avenged the Corley loss in dominant fashion
