I don't remember that movie getting much love or buzz from anybody. :scratcher:

I remember it being billed as "From the director of Memento" when it first came out, but it never really caught on with people.

Scarface is a film that has a nice looking poster. It is not a good film and barely a decent one. A one and done film much like Taxi Driver and the execrable Deer Hunter.

Scarface was a good movie it just hasn't age well.. Taxi driver on the other hand is an all time great, you can see his mental breakdown via Robert DeNiros performance...

Scarface's a stone cold classic, but on the same terms as Predator or Total Recall. The mistake people make is coming at it too seriously.

Joe, you are a good fella, but here you are wrong. Withnail is a fucking incredibly funny film. Honestly. Witty, dry, hilarious and tragic. It is one of my top five ever films.

    Some really shit films:

    Equilibrium: a terrible, terrible 1984 rip-off
    Hell Boy: Fuck off
Anything with Lee Evans in it.
    Braveheart- total trash
    Titanic. No
    2012. Utter, utter dogshit
War of the Worlds (remake). A complete shambles, Tim Robbins worst ever role]
ID4. Okay, this is something of a guilty pleasure but FFS- it is a complete, almost word for word remake of the original War of the Worlds. And the president's speech at the end is pure pap.

I like Ben Stiller when he is more off-the-wall

I loathe him in romantic comedies (that has as much to do with my hatred of romantic comedies as it does Ben Stiller) but he is very funny when he is silly. Tropic Thunder, Dodgeball, I find him very funny in those movies.

How is it possible to not be moved by "The Deer Hunter"?

I can't sit through the whole film, it tugs at my heart strings something fierce. It's a profoundly sad film, great acting all around.

also cdogg, come on, 'meet hte parents'. it's a rom-com but a very good, very slick one. runs out of steam in the final 15 mins or so, but the set-up is spot on. (the sequels all seem to be awful though.)

I hated the Deer Hunter and have no compulsion to watch taxi driver ever again.

Call an average film a classic and people will brainfarm themselves into believing it.

Hate Lebowski, love Pulp Fiction, one of my favourite films.

Hated the Hangover and Tropic Thunder.

When Jim Carey is in OTT-mode he ruins every single fucking film he is in.

agree... there are legitimately hilarious moments in that film. The pool volleyball scene, the "Oh, Jack talk Thai. Jack talk Thai very well" line also cracks me up
