Have you seen any of Pacman's recent fights?

He's not basic now. He just has less fire.

Even the basic Pacman of old, who cares how basic you are if you are that fast, powerful and accurate.

Ask Barrera is he thinks Pacman is basic

    Pacquiao KO 4.

I think he gets Marquez out of there early this time.

Right on good post.... you hit it I couldn't really figure out why I thought he hasn't really gotten better, despite being a bit more accomplished. He's a phenomena because of his power, in that division power is an incredible asset. Its hard to blame him for resting on his laurels, but resting on his laurels is what it appears he is doing.

I really like Marquez, the man is positively mousey but damn! he can hang in there. He is one of the few fighters I can follow in the lower divisions. Marquez's problem is that the absolute crisp speed and reflexes that you need to compete in that division don't get better with age and he is older, hard to imagine he hasn't lost a step.

This will be a good fight!

Thats the thing with these two junior  .... Marquez won a decision the first time and was able to deal with pac for most of the second fight. IMO this gives Marquez the edge in some fundamental respects. I think the draw was generous but Marquez did something truly incredible that fight.

Marquez is one of my favorites and in some respects it would have seemed inappropriate to give it to Pacquio because of what he accomplished, but I am quite sure that guys like Donny and Muze who score fights could have come up with many plausible situations why Pacquio technically won that fight on points.

But yeah Marquez did take control and teach Pacquio a lesson. It was an incredible thing he did that night especially considering how good Pacquio is.

He's too effective and accomplished to be called basic, you cunt.

You just said "Pacman is SOOOOOO basic". You didn't justify it by calling him accomplished too.

Learn to remember your own posts, hoe.

Pacman would bum you after knocking you out cold with the straight left.

How much do you like the thought of laying face down on the canvas, sparko, with Pacman's muscly little Pinoy Penis rapidly penetrating your unconscious asshole?

yes he got up from 3 KD's and fought an even fight.

Too many gave him credit for handling Pacquiao after the 1st round. Well after that even surviving was impressive so I think he got much more credit than he deserved.

It was an even fight, with Pac KD him 3 times, this time, I think Pac will come to be more impressive throughout the fight, rather than coming out to blitz him.

Well, Pac slaughtered Barrera back in '03 when he was still "basic."

Yet he struggled a bit with the likes of Larios and Solis now that he is "better."

I do think Pacquiao has gotten better, but I think the degree to which he has improved technically is being exaggerated.

Part of it is that he has improved - but people also forget he is fighting at 130 now; AND that how he fights is also a function of who is in front of him and what that opponent is doing.

He's gotten better, but still has alot of vulnerabilities that can be exploited, especially technically.

What "saves" him is what has always saved him - his speed, relentlessness, workrate, determination and power.

    Peace.

I just said that to argue against him being basic.

But anyway, I'm sure you've read what I've been saying on this thread, and in my prediction etc. The pacman of old was better.

So yes, the "basic" Pacman was more effective. He was hungrier and more ferocious. There's no denying though, that this less effective pacman is better technically. More patient, a much wider arsenal of punches, better movement, slightly better defense, and just a few more tricks overall.

Sure...all Manny had to do on anyone's card was win 5 total rounds -- there's already one that he had in the bag (the 1st). So all he had to do was win 4 more out of the remaining 11.

And on many cards he did just that.

    If he wins 5 rounds, it's 113-112 Manny. If he wins 6, it's 114-111.

Personally I can't see it any better than 113-112 for Manny. I cannot see him winning more than 5 rounds in that fight.

    Peace.

I like the New Pacquiao's chances alot better than the old one.If this fight was four years ago I would of picked Marquez.

    Agreed.

Manny could very well lay Marquez out.

But this fight is at 130 and JMM's been able to acclimate....if Manny couldn't lay him out 3 1/2 years ago; it's less likely he'll do it now (and I say that recognizing that JMM is older and is supposedly getting hit more).

His improved technical ability serves him better to cope with a 'master boxer'....and if there are brawls his better punch repertoire will serve him well.

His improved ability will serve him better in being able to exploit the holes in JMM's game - especially now that he is getting "hit more."

That being said, I don't think he's improved as much as some think.

But agree - if it had been an immediate (or close to immediate) re; I would have picked JMM with less hesitation than I would now.

    Peace.

Some much PRIDE riding on the line on this one...

Marquez has been a lot more offensive lately. He got caught by Barrera by a good counter. He could do it all. Look for Marquez to sit back more on this one, letting Pacquaio take the lead.

My pick : PACQUIAO by STOPPAGE in the 10th.

Hopefully we will be able to toss this one in with Vasquez-Marquez III for fight of the year honors.

I think his chances are better now to take him out because he'll give Marquez more to think about and plus Marquez's reflexes have declined,he's looked pretty slow these days and seems to be having trouble moving away from punches he clearly sees, hell just look at his last fight against Barrera, yes he won but it was a competitive fight against a shell version of Barrera who floored Marquez in that fight:dunno:.

Yeah, good point....but I just don't think JMM is as faded as some folks think - and I believe he'll really tighten up for this fight.

His legs are there when he elects to use them - it really does seem like he is standing in harm's way more often now and leading more often by choice.

I do think he's declined a bit - that's obvious - but not as much as some folks think.

Against MAB, truthfully, that was a perfect, perfect shot....it caught him dead on the chin and MAB put ALL his weight behind it - and to boot, as Marquez himself was throwing a right hand so he was transfering his weight and didn't see the punch coming at all.

It's one of those classic shots....reminded me of the Wlad-Jefferson right hand.

Good points all around....that's what makes this fight so intriguing.

Shoulda happened earlier....but we'll take what we can get.

    Peace.
