Final Prediction: "Pretty Boy" Floyd "Money" Mayweather vs. Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton

Nah - I made it up. I picked Mayweather by points.....in fact, last night I remarked to my friends that I wasn't (and I really wasn't) really excited about the fight cos I couldnt see Hatton getting through that defence.
Even when he got in close he didnt do anything.

Hatton's fans (and especially Billy Graham) shouldn't really use the excuse of 'but he's just a light-welter', cos they knew that months ago when the fight was made. That just sounds like the old 'Hamed is a really small featherweight' argument that Simes used to use on SO Forum.

You will notice the absence of one name from that list.

 

That was the only one wrong in the last little while and still taylor dropped Pavlik and almost finished him off and at the time of the stoppage it was anyone's fight. So I have no shame in that prediction.

Tyson over Lewis INCORRECT. You should've hit yourself for even considering the possiblility of Tyson winning. Now what other fights have you been right/wrong about over the past 20 years Sly? Because all those fights you've listed, I was right about them too other than Vargas/Mayo and Hatton/May.:tease: AND I had Lewis beating Tyson.

Still, Taylor-Pavlik is the fight you made most noise about. You talked about how you saw something that others didn't, you were confident of your pick even though Pavlik was the favoourite. That pick defines your picking career

No one else thought that Taylor could hurt Pavlik. Well he almost had kelly out in the 2nd round. My pick was ultimately wrong...but alot of the things i said when analyzing the styles proved correct...it's just that Taylor didn't finish him off.

I was wrong yes....but it wasn't a disgracefully incorrect pick.

You see it was a competitive fight and IMO Taylor was at least TIED at the time of the stoppage.

Picking Hatton to beat Floyd and watching Floyd pick him apart and stop him is a disgraceful pick.

In every single case you went with the betting favorite, including the one that you got wrong. I think I'm seeing a trend here....

 

i guess when the odds are 1:1 (either you show up right and are able to brag or you show up wrong and have to eat crow), he's doing the smart thing by going with the betting favorite.

There's usually a good reason why they are the betting favourite though. I've picked underdogs before and been proven right too.
