I do know Shane's history. But unfortunately for Shane this is now - 2007 and that shit won't help him against a younger stronger fighter who gets stronger as the fight goes on.

Shane hasn't been the fighter you claim he is since 2000, your only excuse is that his daddy wasn't there for the bad moments. whatever dude! Fact is Shane is old. He is still a good fighter but he is not in his prime anymore.

When you describe what Shane does you either overrate him or you underrate Cotto.

I guess if Cotto beats him you will claim that Shane got old overnight.

and god knows why you keep talking about Jack Mosley like he is Eddie Futch. Shane is the same fighter he always was. Except he is older:eek:ld:[/quote]I did not say that since Jack wasn't there Shane had bad performances against Estrada and the rest. I said Shane wasn't power boxing during that period. Shane still dominated Estrada with boxing and a more defensive style. Everyone else has been critical of that performance because they thought Shane was shot when he was merely fighting a less agressive style. He has also been trying to regain his confidence since his 4 losses. Right now he seems to have peaked. Or repeaked.

Jack isn't Futch obviously, however like most things that are once considered overrated, Jack has become overlyunderrated. I rewatched a lot of Mosley's fights lately and Jack has mostly given Shane very good advice in the corner. He's also great a what he does which is train and prepare Mosley for his fights. If you want to criticism Jack on his abilities as a cornerman do that, but don't get the 2 confused.

I call a fight the way I see it. Mosley's my favorite but I'm still calling this based on the strengths and weaknesses of both fighters. When Shane's ready to fight Floyd I won't know who to pick for that one, but against Cotto, he'll have an easy and impressive performance.

Here's one similarity. The overrating of Tito's power. It had no effect on Hopkins and I expect a similar thing to happen tonight. Where exactly are we getting that Cotto is such a devastating puncher. A lot of B-listers folded under that power but Shane is world class and it won't even make a dent in him. You guys really think because he kept dropping a Judah who was too bitched up to fight back means his the next Tito?

Cotto is definitely heavy handed but he is not in Tito's class and you will see that tonight. Tonight Cotto gets brought back down to earth a bit.

Shane said he does not plan on boxing tonight. He said the fans paid to see a fight and that's what he's going to deliver.

I'm certainly not overrating Cotto's power. I'm not saying that he's a lights out puncher...and the evidence of this is that I'm saying that it'll be Cotto who'll be vulnerable in the first half of the fight, not Shane. However, as you said, Cotto is heay handed...and on top of this he's RELENTLESS..., so couple this with the fact that Shane's a spurt fighter after a few rounds and get's quite hittable and relatively one-dimension as the fight goes on and you can see why I'm picking Cotto by late stoppage...

    That's my fear exactly....harder, compact shots vs. higher-number, flashier combos....head vs. body...leading/aggression vs. countering...etc.

I can see this kind of disputed decision happening for either fighter.

I'm praying for a relatively clear (but competitive) decision one way or the other (if it comes to that).

Then again, if it's extremely tight...so be it, as long at it's not CONTROVERSIAL!

    Peace.

It's not just REED, it's the SLy One as well! Lb 4 Lb has tears in his eyes as he's typing this. Soon he may have a sort of Oliver McCall breakdown.

For a guy that says it's an easy pick and he's very confident with his pick, he's pretty vocal trying to convince people (himself?:dunno:)... He's setting himself up for a bit of clowning if Shane loses... I have a sig bet with him too If I'm not mistaken, I'll have a lot of material to choose from if Cotto wins.:bears:

No no sig beat. Because I can't think of what to say. However for those doubting my fears rest assurd I have very little. I admittedly feel nervous for the fight and I obviously realize I could be wrong but so sure am I of the styles and history of this that I continue to make my point. It's easy to try to cast your own doubts on me by questioning my motives but trust there's only a slight hint of doubt. I am human.

True, Lb. 4 Lb. Props for flying the flag.

Ultimately all the words have been said and all that remains is for the fight to happen.

Continuing to argue about seems....well, useless.

We'll know soon enough....either way it should be a great fight as long as it lasts!

    Peace.

Deal. I'll start thinking of how to word what you're going to write. You, don't put to much work in thinking of anything. You won't need it.
