That doesn't effect Cotto. Torres and Judah put it on him early and he still executed.

    Maybe.

I think Cotto's resolve is stronger than Shane's, and Miguel being the younger man amplifies that advantage.

We've seen Mosely with that look of resignation on his face in the past against Forrest, Winky and Oscar. Mosely doesn't "pack it in" but gets frustrated easily when things aren't going his way.

We've seen Cotto ouboxed for spells, wobbled and beaten to the punch. His resolve never changes.

I'm still picking Shane in a close one. I think the difference is the guys that have had Mosley frustrated in the past did so by boxing at range and using a jab to prevent Shane from getting into a rhythm.

Cotto will be closer to Shane and give him the opportunites to get off.

However if after 6 rounds Mosley has that dumbfounded look on his face, he's going to take a bad beating.

I am going with Mosley by KO. I don't think Shane is a huge puncher, I just think that he is smart enough to capitalize once he hurts Cotto who is hurt often enough for me to believe it will happen in this fight. Most likely early on. Although Cotto does seem to be able to weather the storm when he is hurt, I feel Mosley is experienced enough to just pick a few good shots and close the show once Cotto is rocked.

    Mosley KO 5

    Cotto brings hi-tech edge!

When Miguel Cotto enters the ring to face Sugar Shane Mosley on Saturday night, he will do it on firm footing. The WBA welterweight champion will be wearing a super hi-tech boxing boot with a special sole made out of a Michelin rubber compound specifically designed to channel liquid away from the shoe to prevent Cotto's feet from slipping on the slick ring canvas advertisements that often cause boxers problems. In addition, the boot is supposed to provide maximum traction, allowing Cotto to firmly plant his feet before unleashing his power punches. Cotto's custom made gold shoes will feature Cotto’s signature logo and the Puerto Rican flag to honor his native country.

Mosley lost because of Cotto's shoes?

All of that is fine, but again...

Shane's coming into this fight with a different mentality. All of the guys you mentioned had some sort of advantage over Shane whether size, height or strength advantage.

    Cotto has none of those.

Shane's mentality going into this fight isn't any different than Holyfield's as he approached the first Tyson fight. It was the first time in years where HE had all the physical advantages.

Don't forget that Vargas tagged Mosley several times and after the first three or four rounds Shane looked a little winded and discouraged "however" Shane landed some of his most vicious punches in 8, 9 & 10 and closed VERY well in that one. Vargas was slow as shit and hit Shane with punches Shane had no reason getting hit with: however, the physcial geography of the two (comparing Vargas to Cotto) has Vargas being taller AND having a longer reach than Cotto. Cotto is quicker than Vargas, but the physical differences means he's got to use his feet to close distance faster than Vargas had to. That's where Cotto is in jeopardy if Shane sits down and counters.

Shane admitted that Vargas buzzed him early and his head was ringing throughout the fight and none of that stopped him from closing the show. Cotto has weathered the storm, but again when you look at those guys (Torres, Judah & Corley) all are guys roughly his height with similar reaches. Mosley has the advantage in all areas over those guys.

After MUCH Analysis, REED is Rolling w/Cotto...

2 NOONE's Surprise, Sugar Shane will Start FASTER & TROUBLE Cotto Early w/his Superior Handspeed...He'll HURT Cotto a Couple Times & Probably even DROP him...

Shane's Gonna Shoot his Load Trying to FINISH Cotto & Come Dangerously CLOSE, but he Won't Get it Done...& That'll B his ASS...This will Cost Shane DEARLY in the Latter Half of the Fight...

Shane is 36, so he's More of a SPURT Fighter these Days...Cotto is the Type that NEVER Stops Throwing & NEVER Stops Forcing the Issue...

Shane's NEVER Been N a Loooooooong, GRUELING Dogfight like MOST Cotto Bouts R...Cotto's PACE is Gonna WEAR Shane Down & he'll STOP Shane In the 11th or 12th or Win a Unanimous Decision...

This Fight will Resemble Cotto vs Zab Judah, though Shane has MORE HEART & a Better CHIN than Zab Does...But the End Result will B Similar...

Cotto by TKO in the 11th...

As soon as Cotto hurts Shane this fight is over. Shane goes into survival mode as soon as hes hurt.

^^^^I doubt that very much. Oscar hurt Shane in their first fight and Shane didn't go into survival mode. Why would he do it against Cotto?

When was Shane hurt in that fight.

All i know is that Vernon hurt Shane and that was a done deal. Then Shane held for his life in the rematch.

i was more hyped for Pavlik-Taylor, but more in the sense that a junkie craves for any kind of drugs after unintentionally being clean for seven weeks.

I'm also a Pavlik fan, dislike Taylor, and am indifferent to both Cotto and Shane. So the fact that I otherwise anticipate both matchups about the same says something about this one.

So then I take it Jake and LOK, you're ordering this one? I know for sure that Floyd/Hatton next month is going to be just as if not more anticipated than any fights we've had since Floyd/Oscar.

See 'Tapper; your damned incessant Mosley watchdogging has everyone excusing themselves for picking against him.

    That's a very good point.

I think the counterbalance to that is that Cotto comes in punching, and often behind a hard jab - he doesn't wait to work his way inside, set up and then release.

And he punches in combinations...and though Mosley is faster, Cotto is more compact, especially at mid/short-distance.

This point is what makes me expect a war!

    Peace.

If it comes down to a war I think cotto will win. I think he has youth and desire on his side. Remember how Mosley bottled it against Winky and Forrest? His father had to coddle him to get him to keep fighting against Winky, telling him his tiredness was all in his head.

I'd hazard a guess that Judah is faster and hits harder than Mosley. Thats 2 things out of the equation. That said, Shane is smarter and bigger. And, it is this that makes me think that Shane won't go for it, and will try to outbox him.

Cotto will beat Mosley up, badly.

The young lion will prevail. There's no way Mosley KO's Cotto and no fucking way he outworks him or outboxes him. Miguel isn't that easy to outbox and Mosley is no Willie Pep. A lot of folks will be surprised by the result because it will start competitive but by round 6th it will be all Cotto.

    Cotto UD12.

Shane will essentially gore Cotto, then afterwards it'll be,.. "You know, when ya think about it, Cotto struggling against Oktay Urkal and a twice beaten Judah should have really been the warning sign that this guy was being celebrated for no real reason :notallthere: "..

:crafty: Shane will roar and scratch him about the eyes, and start combing his hair with his tongue by around the 6th round.

Seriously, I'm not joking here. The fact that Kauki is picking Mosley to "destroy" Cotto makes me so much certain about my pick. Cotto will win fellas, take it to the bank. I smell a beatdown as I said. Cotto big.

I really don't think Mosley can win a decision in NYC against Cotto. Before anyone else says he got one against Oscar in their second fight. I personally thought he won the fight, and sometimes the right guy gets the decision against the favorite. Against Cotto if it's close he'll get the nod potentially setting up a big fight against Floyd next year.

With that being said I'll take Mosley by decision.
