Well I think the fix is in on this one. Maybe not explicitly but implicitly for sure. If you look at fights like Frazier and Ali where the guys had a lot to lose in bragging rights, there was some media exposure to hype the fight. But in this case a whole tv series, etc... And these guys with their lack of maturity? Neither of them have enough balls to really go for broke in this fight and damage a frail ego. Oscar will let Floyd win as soon as he saves face and maybe tags pretty boy with a few good shots. Pretty boy instead of going after Oscar will win from a distance risking nothing.

They might even be doing this for a second fight.

I also said the fight would end in a technical decision (which I hope happens).

    This is my official pick.

I said a lot of crap just to rub you Floyd nutriders the wrong way.

It's pretty much a lose-lose fight for me. I hate each guy.

I've hated Oscar for longer, but dislike Floyd more intensely than Oscar at this point.

The only plus side for a Mayweather win would be the beatdown a Mosley fight would bring for him.

I've always felt that a DLH fight is more winnable than a Mosley fight due to their styles.

    Ok.

Still I give you a hard time Muzse, from time to time, but you are without a doubt one of the best analysts on this site (or any other site)...even though your bias tends to do you a disservice from time to time.

I do think, however, that Oscar is a harder fight for Floyd than Mosley is. Oscar is less predictable than Shane. With Shane we KNOW that after the first few rounds he'll settle into slugging mode and as such Floyd would just potshot him from the outside.

The only danger than Shane presents to Floyd are his bodyshots...but Floyd wouldn't be silly enough to stay stationary long enough to absorb too many of those.

Oscar's height, jab, fearsome power and versatility make him a much harder fight for Floyd.

I'm hoping that Floyd beats Oscar and then fights Shane just so that you see what I'm speaking of...

I think Oscar is a bigger threat....I guess we'll have to wait and see if Floyd wins, and then fights Mosley in the fall.

That's what I think of Floyd's alleged retirement plans.

I think that Floyd's retirement plans are legit..but not for the reasons that he's saying.

The fact is that he hurts his hands in every fight. He knows he has a short life in this game...

I'm hoping for a good fight that isn't marred by injury or any other such nonsense.

injury is part of the game though. If Floyd breaks his hand, that's his problem. He still has to go out there and fight just like every other warrior before him whom he considers himself superior to. If DLH senses pain or fear from him, he'll attack.

I know injury is part of the game. But would you be satisfied if Oscar wins ONLY because of a Floyd injury? Wouldn't you want Oscar to win, simply because he's the better man?

I think Mosley's a tougher fight because he brings phyciality to the table that Oscar doesn't. Oscar has physical advantages which can upset Floyd's rhythm, but I've never seen him apply them when he's faced guys with the traits of Mayweather.

he tried to walk down Whitaker and Mosley and that was a younger, faster Oscar. I don't see how he'll be able to do that against Floyd. Outside of a fight changing shot, Oscar will catch potshots.

Mind you, he's not a bum like John Ruiz, he'll have his share of moments, but I'm not convinced he'll stick to his plan.

Plus, one of the main issues he had with Mosley is that he has a tendency to cover instead of counter whenb faced with a guy with faster hands than he. That's why Mosley hit him with so many right hands. Oscar's main defense was to bend down and Mosley threw right hands over the top which ended up clubbing him on the back of the head.

As far as Mayweather's concerned, he's a straighter puncher than Shane so those Right hands will be lasers which catch Oscar on the chin. It's possible that Floyd will hurt his hands and become ultra defensive. If his hands go, that changes everything. Oscar would be wise to pressure him and eat shots because Floyd will essentially push right hands and not put anything behind them.

If Floyd gets Oscar's respect early and gets him in the mindset where he's not willing to accept shots, even if he pushes right hands, those early shots will be a deterent and Oscar will take his foot off the gas. That's why I think how Oscar reacts to counters early will determine how this fight goes down the stretch.

Oscar's power is limited to one side. Floyd would be well served to constantly circle to his left (like the Corrales fight) to take the jab out of play and the lefthook. The only time he should go to his right is when Oscar misses the lefthook so he can roll a right hand back over the top then circle out to his right. He can't get greedy with a cleanup lefthook because he might get cleaned up himself. That's why I think he'll potshot himself to victory.

Regarding Shane and Floyd. I'd bet Shane all day long vs Mayweather based on what I saw in the Judah fight. Shane can be a mental midget, but he's not in the league of Zab Judah. Plus, Shane is taller and has a longer reach than Floyd. He has the quickness to catch Floyd coming out like Judah.

The most important reason I think Shane has a better chance at beating Floyd is his mindset that he always has to get in the last shot. Meaning, if Mayweather lands a good shot, Shane wants to land two after that. I think Shane makes Floyd fight more often than he'd like.

Lastly, as you noted, Shane's a good body puncher. If there's one weakness I've seen in Floyd it's his ability to take body shots. I thought Castillo bothered him tremendously with bodyshots, but since those fights, no one has committed to digging into his gut.

I see Shane throwing right hands around the side and clubbing Floyd to death with bodyshots the way Rahman wisely did against Toney. Sam Peter did some of the same against James in their last fight. Mind you, Toney doesn't have the mobility of Floyd, but Floyd has steadily become more of a flat footed fighter. I see Mosley taking advantage of that.

    Technical decision round 1.

I wish Margaret Goodman was the ringside doctor for this one.

As if any Floyd-butt licker would give a sh*t if Oscar got injured? To most, it would just be Oscar giving another excuse.

Actually I wouldn't want Oscar to get injured. I want him to be at his best, so that Floyd can get credit for the win.

How can he get credit for the win when this is only Oscar's 2nd fight in a 3 year span, not to mention he's nearing his mid-30s? If Floyd pot shots all night and runs like a bitch leading to a 12 round decision win, he's not going to get any credit whatsoever. It will not help his ppv appeal either.

I'm sure this is totally coincidental, but the biggest idiots on this message board are all picking De la Hoya, minus Jaws and Slystaff.
