Marquez is a world class technician but, as much as I loathe him, Mayweather is going to win this because of speed and size. Mayweather hits harder than people think and plenty of opponents have looked a little surprised when he starts landing on them. Marquez does have a tendency to be a little cold in the early going and I think a flash knockdown is a possibility, though Mayweather will also possibly be a bit rusty being away from the game for a long stretch, so he too may need time to warm up.
I think ultimately that Marquez will wind up trying to pressure Floyd and he is going to start absorbing punishment that I don't know he is physically big enough to take. I cant see Marquez being able to effectively counter Floyd well enougn to really believe in it and stick to that as a gameplan. I think he sees the speed hes up against and decides his best shot is to try to fight at close range, moving forward. I just think the heavier shots and greater hand speed of the bigger, stronger Mayweather are going to be too much for Marquez to overcome if he pressures him. And if he tries to box him, he will be outfoxed by Mayweather's quickness. I just cant see anyway Marquez wins this fight, thought I hope to hell he proves me wrong

That said, I dont believe it... Mayweather KO10

Mayweather is too big for JMM. Faster, bigger, stronger and better skilled defensively.

Same size?? JMM probably takes it. They aren't physically the same size men.

Floyd takes him out in the mid to late rounds via corner stoppage

Marquez is the best lightweight in the world. Mayweather "was" the best welterweight two years ago, but he hasn't fought since then. That is going to be a problem. People can look good hitting speedbags and punching mitts, but it's not the same as being in a real fight.

On top of that, Marquez is arguably the best fighter Mayweather has ever faced at the moment he faced them.

In the last three years, Floyd fought Baldomir, Oscar and Hatton. Frankly, it's very clear now that none of those guys were as good as Marquez is now. (And I thought the fight with Oscar was a toss-up.)

Hell, you couldn't fit a hair between Marquez and Pacquiao right now. Basically one knockdown decided their last fight. And one could argue Pacquiao is better than Mayweather was when he left the ring. Who knows what Mayweather will show up after two years out of the ring.

Marquez has gotten better with age. Mayweather, I'm not so sure.

We'll see. But I think Marquez is going to break him down and stop him.

Marquez by TKO in the 11th or 12th.:partie:

We'll see. But, IMO, Floyd has never faced anyone as good as Marquez is right now. Marquez knows what he's getting into. I don't think Floyd does. And Floyd hasn't been in a real fight in two years on top of that. You don't want to face the toughest opponent of your career while coming off a two-year layoff.

That doesn't sound smart to me. It's more difficult for boxers to come off long layoffs than it is for punchers.

marquez is not the toughest opponent of mayweather jr's career. marquez is on the decline, and fighting three divisions above his best weight AT THIS POINT in his career. he struggled with the physical strength of diaz, who is a very marginally talented lightweight. I cant really waste much time debating with you because who knows if you are serious. You're the same guy who argued Henry Akinwande was better than Ricardo Lopez.

Marquez is the best lightweight in the world right now. You say Marquez isn't the best he's faced, but who did Floyd fight who was better than Marquez is right now? And none of us really know how good Floyd will be, since he's been off for so long. I don't expect him to be at his best. I don't think that's realistic.

Weight is really only an issue when the fighters have to struggle to make it. The weight limit is 144. Both guys should make it with no problem. If anyone has trouble making it, it'll be Floyd -- who has been off and before that fought at welter for a couple years. And if he does struggle, it will only compound his problems.

I'm not predicting a blowout or anything. I think it'll be a good fight. But I think Marquez will break him down and stop him. Floyd has been off a long time. Marquez IS the toughest opponent he's faced. If either does, odds are Floyd is the one who will struggle to make the weight.

We'll see in a couple days.

If Weight WASN'T an Issue, there'd B NO Weight Classes & Marquez Would've Been 140 + Loooooooooong Ago, DUBB...It Remains to B SEEN how EFFECTIVE Marquez is Going to B @ a NEW Weight...

Marquez's MOBILITY, SPEED & STAMINA Could All B GREATLY Compromised by the Increase in Weight...His Body was Already Noticeably SOFTER in the 24/7 footag...& Even Though Floyd ISN'T a Puncher, he's a Naturally BIGGER Man who's Fought @ 147 or Higher for the Last SEVERAL Years...

I don't know what show you were watching but I thought Marquez put on the weight very well, and he looked pretty ripped to me.
Take how he looked when he was younger, and its the best shape he has been in in a while.

By the same token, though, Marquez isn't exactly 'any ol' featherweight/lightweight', is he? As Dubb said, there really is little more than a cigarette paper between JMM and Pac, plus JMM has shown that the jump to 135 was no problem by beating BOTH of the best guys at that weight on his way to this fight at 144.

I agree that he is too small to beat Floyd at 144, but I think he'll put up a stiff resistance before he loses.

Quick question? You said that JMM has better offensive skills then PBF. What does he do offensively that PBF can't do. Is he a better counter puncher, does he have a lead better lead left hook or lead right hand. Do he have a better jab. Does he throw better combinations? I mean what are you basing this on. I'll Holla 5000

I agree with you for once. There is no rational reason to say Marquez is anything better than PBF. Marquez is more aggressive, but better offensively, no fucking way. Oh and lol that Marquez "a little slower". Mex, Floyd is an entire level faster. The only guys as fast as Floyd or near as fast a Zab and Pacman. Marquez is getting smoked . Floyd will have to be reduced significantly to lose to tiny piss mouth cum guzzling Marquez.

This fight is a farce. Yeah, Marquez is the man at lightweight. What is left unsaid is Casapeor was always an overrated stinkfighter who is done(nearly losing to a clubfighter in kATSIDIS beforee Marquez) and he was getting manhandled and HURT, REad that again hurt, by Juan Diaz.

Marquez can't outbox Floyd. Can't hurt Floyd. He can't get him out with one punch. Floyd is going to manhandle him. It is rare when Floyd is not only better but also stronger. Marquez only chance is Floyd injuries both hands like Floyd did against "yoyo" bum and weight cheat Jose Luis Castillo, the skilless boring bum, annd only then can Marquez beat Floyd like Castillo did the first time.

Floyd has a better jab, Marquez has a better lead left hook, better combinations, and slightly better timing and accuracy.

Floyd is good at jabbing and potshotting.

Marquez is good at counter punching AND launching spurts of offensive pressure, with excellent combos to head and body.

Floyd's offense dips considerably when he is under intelligent offensive pressure (castillo fight for example), and he just looks for 1 punch at a time.

Marquez doesn't. Marquez was still able to effectively counter Pacman and hit him with combos, Pacman being the best offensive fighter in boxing.

Floyd's offense isn't great. People get tired and frustrated from chasing him around, and end up getting whacked with clean punches, and running into punches.

Floyd can't turn a fight around with his offense like Marquez can. Floyd is a defensive fighter, that's his greatest asset, he is very hard to hit.

Oh and although Marquez is hardly "any old featherweight" - you still have to take into account what Pacman has done is truly an anomaly.

Manny is a freak of nature, there hasn't been anyone since Duran that has been able to traverse weight divisions as successfully as Pacquiao.

Marquez has very good power, and decent speed, stamina etc, but ultimately he relies more on skill and craft. He doesn't have the freakish natural talent, speed and power that Pacman has.

Therefore logically, he's not going to be as effective moving up 2 straight weight divisions, and fighting 3 or 4 divisions above his natural weight.

The truth is, we have absolutely no clue how effective Marquez is going to be at 147. He might be highly ineffective. He might get blown out in 2 rounds by Floyd.

I acknowledge that's a possibility, but I think Marquez's sheer skill and accuracy lets him put up a fight, and Floyd's safety first nature. That's why I'm picking Flid by boring decision.

I agree. He looked fine. And truthfully Marquez isn't really "adding" weight. Neither guy is. Marquez is just not taking off as much weight as he normally does. He won't have to lose as much water as normal. As a result, Marquez should have more energy.

Floyd, on the other hand, hasn't fought in two years. And in the last couple years before that, he fought at 147. Now he's not only got to get in the kind of shape he hasn't been in for two years, he's got to lose "more" weight than he did back then.

Floyd's not a heavy guy by any means, so I don't think it'll be a huge problem. But, like I said, if anyone has trouble with the weight, it'll be Floyd not Marquez.

That said, I don't believe weight will be a factor for either guy. I think timing and the pacing of the fight will be the decider.

    Can't wait until Saturday.

I agree that JMM's punching technique is better. In a P4P sense, PBF was never the puncher that JMM is.

However, I don't agree that PBF in general lacks offensive teeth. If you consider the ODH and Castillo fights it certainly seems that way. But what about the Judah fight? Or the N'dou fight? When PBF walked his man down and beat the shyte out of him?

My guess is PBF views a match-up with JMM as an opportunity to put on another performance like that.

    Mexican Wedding Shirt,

Did I read where you said that Marquez has a better lead left hook? So you are saying that the left hooks that PBF landed against Chico Marquez does better. Please tell me the fights where Marquez landed or even thrown lead left hooks with the type of speed, power, and accuracy that PBF did in that fight. Also please tell me the fights where Marquez countered of a jab used pulled counters better then PBF? Marquez is a great fighter he's just not on PBF's level. I'll Holla 5000
