Pacquiao has proven to be effective at 140+ even if it was against a dead De La Hoya....and Ricky Hatton who at the time was the best 140 pounder...

Should REED Remind YOU of the CIRCUMSTANCES???...

    1. Roy had MOVED BACK DOWN from Heavy & Hadn't Quite Recovered from it...

    2. Tarver was CLEARLY the BIGGER, TALLER Man...
    3. They were of EQUAL Age...
    4. Tarver's Eye's were CLOSED & On Top of that, he was Fortunate that Roy's Lead Right Hand MISSED & his Left Hook Landed on Tarver's NECK...Roy GAMBLED in that Scenario MUCH More than Floyd EVER Would...

    Compare that to Floyd-Marquez

    1. Marquez is MOVING UP to a Division he's NEVER Campaigned @...
    2. Floyd is BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER...
    3. Marquez is OLDER than Floyd
    4. As REED Stated Previously, Floyd is Toooooooooo Technically SOUND to GAMBLE as Roy Did, just Prior to Getting KO'ed by Tarver...

Keep Hope Alive, Brother Hex, but it AIN'T Gonna Happen, Homey...

NOw if Mayweather was fighting Cotto, Mosley or even Pacquiao in his comeback fight...that would be something to respect....but Marquez?? :nono:

If Kessler doesn't win the Tourney at 168 maybe he should fight Cotto or Mosley at 168....

    165 to make it fair..

I wasn't trying to be funny or use schtick. People call Marquez gay all day long as if Floyd is some bastion of heterosexuality. Have you watched 24/7. The guy is constantly surrounded by guys who kiss his ass all day. Floyd is a homosexual. Someday it will come out. Hell, Neil has personally sucked him off.

He was the 'Baldomir best' ,... he was terrified of Witter's ability to fight from a southpaw stance, and Bradley had to take care of that, infact, several people agreed that Bradley would beat the ginger whiskered axelotal, in the same way of your indulgence in your display pic ofcourse, Frenchy.

Because unlike PBF, Cotto has faced the best guys already at 147. He's faced Mosley, Clottey and Margarito.

Also, Pacquiao at least has proven himself already at 147. JMM has not.

Also, you can't compare it to ODH's taking on Pacquiao either because ODH made a career out of fighting the best. PBF doesn't have the equity in his resume at 147 that Cotto and ODH do.

    Marquez 142, Mayweather 146.

Guess there was no 144 catchweight after all.

Dan Rafael is saying the contract was re-negotiated yesterday and Marquez's camp agreed to it and got paid a penalty fee.

Good that Marquez is getting more money from it, but still, that's some bullshit right there.

I don't want to hear any more "Mayweather is not a welterweight" stuff since he can't even make 144.

Yep, perhaps with some last minute draining, Marquez might have a realistic chance.

If there was a penalty for each pound over 144 it couldn't be much $$$$$..maybe 100K a pound or something...i bet Mayweather would have tried a bit harder if it was 500K-1mil a pound...

Like PBF said on ESPN a while ago this fight is at welterweight and guess what he weighed in like a welterweight. Don't know if he could make 140 or 144 but that's not where he said he was going to be fighting at. I'll Holla 5000

Agreed. Or there are the types that like to pick the big underdog to make themsleves look smarter afterward.

"I was one of the few that called it. I know boxing better than you!!!!"

I fail to see any rational reason to pick Marquez analyzing the fight on any level. (and i'm rooting for him)

The only factors people have brought up that could have any effect are the few extra pounds Floyd had to lose, and the layoff. I have yet to read anything remotely convincing about JMM's chances.

The 144 thing didn't happen so 'X' out that factor. Layoff? Mayweather "retired" on top because for his own reasons. (argue about those reasons all you want) The fact is it was not a long hiatus and he didn't bow out because of injuries or anything else that would make a comeback tougher.

You still have to beat the guy in front of you and i don't see how Marquez can do it.
