The more I consider this fight the more I see Canelo simply beating him up. I'm leaning towards a Canelo win by stoppage in around the 7th round.

Canelo is just bigger, stronger, tougher, fresher, hungrier...and I suspect....that Canelo has a rock solid chin.

I actually think he's going to fuck him up big time!

A Canelo win wouldn't shock me at all.

But what top quality fighter has Canelo ever really beaten up??

For it to go down the way you described, Cotto would have to be SHOT to pieces.

Not necessarily. Both guys are heavy hitting pressure fighter types. Cotto has always been relatively easy to hit....hence why he marks up so much during fights. When two guys like that collide...the bigger, stronger, tougher man usually runs over the other guy. Doesn't mean Cotto is shot, it means that this type of styles clash could spell doom for him. (like Frazier-Foreman).

Last time two of his sons fought they gave us an all time great battle (Corrales-Castillo)...so let's hope the trend continues....

Hard to see Cotto winning this...but then again I was CONVINCED that Martinez was going to knock Cotto out and..how wrong was I then?

So I could be wrong again...but...I just can't see how Cotto, who gets hit quite a bit, survives Canelo who is bigger, stronger, tougher, faster, younger and probably hits harder on top of that.

It's competitive while it lasts though, simply because Cotto is a very good fighter, who is determined and hits hard enough to keep Canelo honest....but in the end Canelo's surely going to stop him.

If Canelo DOMINATES Cotto one sidedly and stops him, I will be impressed.

I wouldn't put him on the pound 4 pound because I don't think he's at that level. But I think I he wins one sidedly it would be worthy to give him some props.

I'm expecting a competitive fight. If Canelo has the gas tank to apply non-stop pressure, Cotto is fucked. If he lets Cotto rest, he'll lose on the cards.

    he doesnt.

if he wins it will be because he lands big shots here and there that hurt cotto and earn him a close decision (probably undeserved)

cotto, with a clear decision. HIs power and counters makes canelo reluctant to engage, and he's not winning a boxing match against cotto

You would think that if it's close, a decision would favor Nelo, but I dunno. Oscar can usually buy the judges, but considering Hov is worth 4x more than Oscar who's to say he can't buy the judges?

And remember, last time there was a mega fight between in Vegas between a Rican and Mexican, the Rican got the nod.

I like Cotto to win emphatically but i'm not sure whether it'll be UD or late stoppage.

Yeah. Cotto gets off first, uses his feet and angles, starts sitting down on shots more as Alvarez slows

Alvarez' power is obviously the wildcard tho

It's not so much Alvarez's power is the wildcard, Cotto's chin and face are the wildcards.

If Cotto had a dependable chin, and dependable skin, he'd be the heavy favorite. Alvarez does NOT have Jackson-like fight ending power.

It's just that Cotto busts up easily, cuts easily, and his chin isn't great (it's not glass either though).
