I thought Wlad was great at the presser on Monday. If he turns in a good performance I might, MIGHT even start liking him a little bit.

Come on Wlad, knock this chump out.

Either a mid to late-ish round KO for Wladimir or Klitschko by UD with Haye on his bike after the first 4 when he realises he can't win.

I wonder, with all the accusations of cheating and hand-picked referee's if team Haye don't have a few tricks up the sleeves of their immaculate matching hoodies.

Did anybody else catch Johnny Nelson and Glen McCrory on TV last night showing how David has to throw low-blows on the inside?? :dunno:

I don't blame Wlad for being defensive-minded, given his vulnerabilities. But it doesn't change the fact he's not exciting to watch. As a boxing fan, whether he's justified or not in his approach really doesn't matter.

And to the extent he bends the rules in order not to be hit, he deserves criticism.

He deserves criticism but he does not deserve sanction. And to label him a cheat {Adam Booths words, not yours} and accuse him of "perverting the course of a fight" {Booth, again} is beyond the pale.

The clinch is a legal part of boxing. At times, it is impossible to decide who is doing the clinching.

The fighter who initiates the clinch may actually try to break it, but not be let do so, by the other fighter.

A low blow, on the other hand, is not a part of boxing, at all, in any regard.

And for Haye, a guy who throws punches at downed opponents, and rabbit punches with impunity, to be saying that Wlad and his team are a "mob" and "cheats"....is most rich indeed. Most rich.

Yes. It is mind boggling how we become fans of anything, really.

The single-most important factor explaining any association, as I see it, is familiarity.

    Familiarity along lines of

    1. Ethnicity
    2. Religion
    3. Culture and Language.
    4. Personal mores, education and Class.
    5. General everyday behaviour.
    6. Entertainment factor
    7. Common enemy, adversary or opponent.

    etc.

You can put them in any order you like.

Some of the most unholy of alliances have come about, through the existence of just one of the above factors, in contradiction of the remainder.

For instance: USA supporting Iraq, by way of their being familiar with a shared common enemy.

I don't like HBO. I don't like Lou Di Gumbah. They don't like Wlad. That throws up one avenue. He's white. Thats another. He speaks German, English, like I do. He's a Christian. So am I. He is a prizefighter. I like prizefighters. He comes back from adversity. I am a pretty limited dude myself. He tries hard and knows how to comport himself public-wise. I like to think I do too.

What am I supposed to do??? Note the absence of his once-fluid combinations and say "nah, fuck this, I am out of here"???

People say I am a "nut-hugger"- I try to be honest.

i appreciate what haye has done here in the promotion (besides the hand wrapping accusations) because it has gotten wlad out of his shell a little bit more and i really like hearing the klitschko's talk. it's great seeing wlad talk outside of his usual "respectful" boring routine. good stuff

Wlad's patronising tone is annoying/boring, but Haye's psyched out

This is "gay" sounding and so I'll catch a great deal of heat for it, but this fight is probably the greatest level of aggregated handsomeness in one ring in history.

I remember them billing the Leonard-Lalonde fight as the battle of the pretty boys or something of that nature but these guys are collectively better looking than they were.

Tell us that story again, the story of the 100% Anglo Saxon vs the 100% Black African....you know, the one where the brutish Anglo Saxon can only be matched by the 100% African. Go on. Play it again Sly :crafty:

Carl Froch has taken over that title now.

His beak is fucking insane. I wouldn't be surprised if his beak gets more than a little wet vs Huggie Ward.

Yup the more I think about it I think that...

    Haye's gonna do 'im!

I just can't get it out of my head that a tense jittery Wlad is going to get nailed with a hail mary right hand from a very confident and relaxed David Haye and then get pummelled into submission. When Haye has a man hurt he doesn't seem to relent.

Very confident and relaxed Haye throwing bombs ? ummm no. Did you see him fight Valuev and Audley ? He was scared of those guys, nevermind somebody like Wlad. Haye will stay away eating jabs as long as his stamina will allow him trying to counter with something but nothing will land. Wlad will start catching up and landing bombs and it's over round 8. Bank on it.
