 Barrera barely beat that bum Rocky Juarez the first time around. Pac stepped off the gas against MAB. No question in my mind Chicanito would've beaten him.

MAB was well past it when he nearly beat Juan Manuel Nortonez

Are you sure about that? I remember him beating Juarez clearly.

You're right about Pacquiao thought, to be fair that was more about Pacquiao. It was one of his most tepid performances.

Still, I think Barrera was an elite fighter from 122 to 130, and I don't think he'd be a pushover even for Floyd.

Exactly. I don't see any evidence he's a better fighter than Barrera tbh.

    Me either

He was a good fighter, but what's his best win, elderly Azumah Nelson?

Barrera beat Juarez clearly, but Marquez didn't beat Barrera clearly?

Barrera beat Juarez clearly the second time around when he sat behind his guard and jabbed for 12 rounds while Juarez followed him around not throwing any punches (which was sort of like rounds 1-9 of the first fight, iirc)

Aside from Morales who we already covered, who's Barrera's best win at 130? Rocky "I don't like to throw punches" Juarez? Robbie Peden? Chicanito was like 6' tall, rangy had quick hands & good technique. He wouldve easily beaten Barrera.

I actually thought steel plate Barrera gave Marquez a load of trouble, but no, I didn't think he won the fight, especially not after that three point debacle in round 9(?)

He did. JMM's career was going forward while Barrera's pretty much on the downward spiral. Because the right guy won people remember it differently. I thought Marquez won the fight and had no problem with the decision, but it wasn't a unanimous opinion even on fightbeat.

What's lost in it all is that it was a really good and underrated fight. Context is very important but the match itself is worth watching on its own merit.

You think it was a good fight whiskles? I remember it being closer than expected, but not the most enjoyable fight.

    Barrera was @ his Best @ 122-126...Floyd was @ his Best @ 130...

Floyd Would Possess EVERY Advantage Over a 130lb Barrera...BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER, HARDER Puncher, Better DEFENSIVELY, More SKILLED, TALLER, YOUNGER...Literally, there's Not a SINGLE Edge Barrera Would Have Here, Fellas...

REED is Even Willing to Entertain the THOUGHT of Barrera Hearing the Final Bell, but this WOULDN'T Be a Particularly Competitive Fight...Floyd 10-2, if Not a Late Stoppage...

In all honesty it was a pretty good fight, and Barrera gave Marquez a scrap. But he was getting beat up bad until Marquez got careless and got dropped, that's why Barrera hit him late .. he knew he was losing.

Call me crazy, but I think Barerra would give Floyd some problems. He wouldn't come close to winning, but he would make it competitive, if not close

I think because Floyd has become so overrated in recent years, that people are forgetting how truly special he was at 130.

MAB would come nowhere CLOSE to winning this fight. And yes, Floyd WOULD stop him. Floyd at 130 had power, handspeed, and was far more offensive minded back then, than he currently is.

MAB at 130 has no power to deter Floyd with. He'd get absolutely hammered.
