Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Ricky Hatton: Official thread.

Floyd's chatting the shit now that the fight is signed, but it was Hatton who initiated all of this with his comments about Floyd being a boring fighter and fighting like Sheryl Crowe. ::

I really don't think Floyd Jr truly has 'hardcore' fans. I think these same fans who support him would just as much like to see him take a big one to the chin to see if he truly is 'all that' as he makes himself out to be. He doesn't have a diehard fanbase ala Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali.
I can see his wagon emptied completely if he suffers a KO defeat. I don't think too many guys would stick up for him if he's to get exposed someday.

Everybody gets 'exposed' LOK. A lot of guys are drooling to make that first big thread when he gets taken out and we all know that people are going to call his competition into question. Happens to every fighter.

Either one of them could get 'exposed'. Guys like DLH are past the stage of getting exposed cause he fought the very best, even in weightclasses where he didn't belong.
Floyd though is still fighting the critics and most of his comp was sh*t in comparison. It also doesn't help having a big mouth and huge ego.

He'll never be as big as those guys, but you might as well shit on the entire industry.

Out here is a good gauge of whether or not a fighter is truly a superstar, as boxing is hardly a hotbed (it's a lot bigger in Memphis than up here). And there are a lot of people I do know who, if they watch boxing today, Floyd is on the very short list - both of fighters they actually know, and whom they will watch.

Maybe he's just the flavor of the month in that regard, but he is a much bigger star than most give him credit for being.

I think Floyd gets more attention for what he says than how he fights if his fight with Oscar and this 24/7 are any indication.

I've had people ask me if I've seen 24/7 and they were amused by Floyd's talk.

The same guys watched the DLH fight and we disappointed because the level of talk wasn't indicative of how he fought. The same guys are watching 24/7 this time around but are skeptical about buying the fight based on the performance the last time out.

I wasn't on the Mosley "he's the next sugar ray and best in the world" bandwagon, but I always liked the guy.

 

Mayweather late TKO....Hatton's agressive style will help him win a couple rounds early, but he is going to get chopped down by Floyd on the inside.

I was responding to Jake sayin gthat I was on the bandwagon of black undefeated fighters. So keep this in mind.

I therefore said that I wasn't on the Shane bandwagon when he was still undefeated.

I am not saying I was on the bandwagon AFTER he became defeated....very important point...I'm simply saying in response to Jake that I wasn't on teh bandwagon at the time that Shane was undefeated (ie..another black undefeated fighter).

Yes, I know Arguello isn't Dominican, but there's NO WAY you can say Guzman doesn't look Black. If he were walking down the street and didn't open his mouth you wouldn't immediately know.

 

no doubt guzman has a high percentage of african heritage (higher than jake will be willing to admit) but nonetheless, phonetap would know in a second guzman was from a latin country. you have to grant jake that he is a new yorker and growing up there you notice the differences quickly...
