that's all I was getting at. And of course I acknowledge the African heritage. The same could be said of Tito. But in both instances, there's almost no way you can't tell that they're Latino.

Rosario Dawson seems to fall into the same category. I look at her and see someone mixed with Black and some sort of Latino background (I think she's Dominican). Whereas others look and only see a Black woman. Alicia Keys would be another example - by most accounts, she IS a Black woman - looks, the way she carries herself, etc., but only those who view things one way or the other wouldn't see her obviously mixed racial makeup.

don't disagree with you at all.

    "however"

muzse took exception with you saying guzman is more taino than anything else. phonetap chalks that up to you being ingrained in puerto rican culture where in that country even though there's tens of thousands of mofo's walking around peasy-headed and black like kunta kinte, the vast majority of them refuse to admit they have more african heritage than taino. there is a stigma to being called black and they don't want any part of it...

I'll grant Jake a small pass, but let's be honest here. If you see Guzman walking down the street with two or three other guys the same color or around the same color the FIRST thing in his mind isn't "hey, there goes three Dominicans."

Lastly, I don't agree with the Keys comment and I'll toss in Halle Berry as well. That's Monday Morning Quarterbacking as far as I'm concerned because you know their backround.

Hell, my dad is lighter than both, has features more similar to both of them and both my grandparents are fairly dark. Shit, I'd be one of the "brothers darkness" according to Rick James.

A guy like Sammy Sosa...yes, you can tell he's Latino when you see him but in my opinion, Guzman's skin tone is different from Sosa's so you wouldn't immediately know he's Latin...in my opinion.

Contrast that with Vinjay Singh, possibly the blackest human being I've ever seen in person...NOTHING about him says he's African (because he isn't...he's from Fiji)

But all you're looking at is Guzman's skin color. His facial features alone make it a dead giveaway otherwise.

I don't agree with the Keys/Berry comparison at all. Halle Berry, i agree that at first glance, without knowing her background, most would simply see a Black woman. There are subtle differences, but again, they become more apparent once you know she's mixed.

    But Alicia Keys? C'mon.

Kinda like Jake refusing to admit to his Puerto Rican heritage. he and Luis Collazo could pass for brothers.
