History shows that any void is quickly filled. Not saying that I disagree that incentives exist to keep Floyd as that guy, but if Floyd does lose his status as the big draw, one or more fighters will fill the void relatively quickly.

anyone else feel that byrd's urgent breaks which allowed pbf to control the pace and distance of the fight by holding whenever he found himself close had to be devastating to guerrerro's chances? pbf simply did not want to fight inside. and since byrd broke them the second he held, he didn't have to. not surprising but not fair or just either. for anyone convinced pbf is unbeatable or somehow invincible, just remember that in his latest victory, he needed the referee's help.

Kind of weird he didn't want to fight inside, he's a very good infighter, he would have dominated Gurrardo inside too.

Double - he definitely got the ref's help, but that doesn't mean he needed it.

    NO....

Floyd also clinch against Cotto difference was that Cotto didn't allow himself to be clinch for long he would push Mayweather off, or just punch with his free hand. Guerrero was scared of fighting from a distance, was wild when he try to get inside, and when he did get inside he was afraid of letting his hands go..

Guerrero was/is GARBAGE...he clinch me? Motherfucker is this your first fight? Push him off and hit him in the face...why was Guerrero so aggressive vs. Berto clinches, headbutts, elbows everything...yet with Floyd he was a timid bitch? Because at least with Berto he was hitting some and getting hit some...against FLOYD he was hitting air missing and getting his head snap back by lead rights and left hooks...Guerrero fought that fight like a bitch...a dumb bitch you come at Floyd without jabbing?...

difference is, the ref didn't break them the minute pbf clinched cotto. so cotto had the chance to work inside. guerrero worked inside when he had the chance, but most of the time, he had none because byrd was busy breaking them up. don't try to tell me the ref's determination to break them the second pbf clinched didn't have consequences for guerrero. that's bullshit. and the cotto fight, when cotto was allowed to work inside, just reinforces my point.

At the time no, not really. Guerrero landed some nice body shots in the early rounds. Maybe Byrd gave him less time to work as the fight progressed but it's not something that I noticed.

IMO floyd was excellent on the night. For once I was impressed

Sure there is a few occasions where Byrd is kinda quick to break 'em....but for the most part they clinch and Guerrero does nothing or little of nothing maybe a few punches to the body...nothing devastating or fight changing...these mexicans announcers are crazy....and never hide their bias...:dancingBaby:

Shit in some rounds there are only 1 or 2 clinches...so NO Mayweather wasn't save because Guerrero wasn't allow to fight in the clinch...

I like how Floyd covers up with the gloves in his face in a corner or leaning of the ropes but GUERRERO tooo scared of getting hit to do anything about it.

body shots guerrero landed were primarily left hands thrown from outside. there was one round, probably the one guerrero won, in which byrd allowed the fight inside.

How many times it's Mayweather pushing Guerrero off....and when Byrd jumps in is because Guerrero isn't doing shit other than allowing himself to be clinch..both arms..

Maybe in round 7 with a minute and some left Byrd jumps when they were clinch..and Guerrero was doing some work..but nothing damaging..even the mejican announcers said mayweather was getting a rest while in the clinch..

After watching Round 1-9......yes Mayweather clinch more than usual(????? I guess)...but is some rounds there were 2-3 clinches? Some round 4 i think had NO clinches...Round 9 had what? 1-2 clinches? Floyd was rolling/turn out of the corners...

Guerero got his ass kick bottom line....Look at the beginning of round 10...Floyd is the corner for 10-20 seconds...Guerrero throws a few timid punches like a bitch..the best punch was landed by Floyd then he rolls out of the corner...

Double look at the fight again......point out where Byrd help Mayweather...Guerrero was giving ample time in the clinch to make something happen, he was comfy staying in the clinch ...this fight had maybe 20 clinches...shit Berto vs. Guerrero had that many clinches per round...

i'm not saying guerrero didn't blow it. but obviously his only chance would've been to keep the fight inside but because of byrd he couldn't do that.

but to your point, guerrero had become gun shy by the middle of the fight. early on, guerrero had some success countering and punching with pbf. but to pbf's credit, he responded by not leading - a game he would clearly win. guerrero failed to adjust in kind.
