wtf are you talking about? Roy has admitted to coming into the ring at 175 when he boxed at middleweight. So there won't be any instances of him being outweighed by 10 lbs before he moved up.

Then play boxrec warrior and you'll see that his opponents often weighed similar (or less) than Roy.

Sure, he's fought bigger men...Hall and Tarver come to mind...but these guys aren't 10 lbs heavier than him on fight night, are they? Even if these two were, that leaves you with a lot of names to get to your MANY claim.

I'm going by not having any memory of hbo weights that justify your claim or ever hearing about it before...supplemented with boxrec warrioring...if I'm wrong and roy was outweighed by 10-20 lbs by MANY opponents...well, I'll be glad to admit i'm wrong.

Let's just say it's safe to say you are wrong on MANY accounts. That's more than a few for the lay....I don't need to play boxrec warrior because I would bet the house I have seen ALL of his fights 10 fold to the times you have....I used to make copies day and night and GIVE them away.....boxrec =/

This topic is stupid. Sure, Roy Jones was outweighed by a few opponents, but they were all shitheads, like John Ruiz and Richard Hall.

Exactly, so a few pounds for Floyd= Greatness

More than a few pounds for Roy= Pathetic

I'm glad we got past this silliness. It was ridiculous bringing this up in the first place :bears:

15 pounds against an all-time-great like De la Hoya = something

20 pounds against John Ruiz = nothing

roy beating ruiz was a more impressive victory for jones than delahoya was for mayweather.

this clown talking about jones being outweighed is a goofball however. there wasn't a single Lhw bout where jones was outweighed by 10lbs

You are wrong. If 4 pounds is a big deal......you saying he weighed less of a difference against LH's and Toney?

Of course De la Hoya put on 10 pounds or so after the weigh-in. He looked bigger and stronger than he had at any point in his career.

Which "much bigger" opponents did Jones beat that were as accomplished as Oscar de la Hoya? Jones beat a few larger fighters, but they were all journeymen.

nobody can be this ignorant. jones came into Lhw bouts in the 180s....183 ....i guess his opponents were gaining 20 or 25lbs after the weighins..since YOU claimed jones was outweighed by ten to fifteen lbs MANY times....the one name you actually cite as having a weight advantage over jones...james toney, the guy ppl were literally running to the sportsbooks to bet against after he weighed in

    • Floyd Mayweather beat a much bigger Oscar de la Hoya.
    • Oscar de la Hoya is a very accomplished fighter.
    • Roy Jones beat much larger Richard Hall and John Ruiz.
    • Richard Hall and John Ruiz aren't very accomplished fighters.

Right, now we are taking away fights. James Toney is one, now let's take away DeValle. You keep taking them away, I guess I can't say more than a few :notallthere:

Roy was boring to me, but Floyd is light years behind Roy lately. His fights with Baldomir and DLH were Stinks level fights. I liked the Judah fight. He also stunk it out against the skilless bum Castillo in both fights.

Fraud and Spinks both have the same level of smelliness in my opinion. Fraud probably smells like 2 week old bum shit in an alley, and Spinks smells like wet dog shit.

I disagree. Stinks is ALWAYS in putrid fights without exception. At best, he was in well below average fights with Judah. Floyd is often dull, but he has had some decent fights Corrales, N'dou, Corley(seriously), Zab, and others.

I agree I would less likely throw acid in Fraud's face than Spinks if I had only a limited amount of acid.

But if I had two shots, all bets would be off.

Not compared to Oscar de la Hoya. Mayweather beat a great fighter who outweighed him by quite a bit. Roy Jones beat a mediocre fighter who outweighed him by quite a bit.

Toney is not mediocre no matter how Roy made him look. Floyd squeeked by with a split decion by avoiding action from a past it DLH who has the record for controversial wins. Let's leave Jones out of this

ruiz was the more impressive victory. ruiz had beaten more credible opposition leading up to the jones bout (and subsequently)than delahoya had going into the mayweather bout..AND jones won easier

He was 210+ three weeks before fighting at 168, and I'm not sure that he even outweighed Jones. Jones once said that Hopkins could never beat him because Roy entered the ring at 175 or 180 when he was at 160. Take that for what it's worth. This was years and years after he said that he was "barely 175" at light heavyweight, and that his opponents outweighed him at that weight.

He weighed 184 when he fought Jones.

Jones was bigger than most of his opponents
