Cotto is gonna KILL Margarito when they fight. And while Cotto/Mayweather would be intriguing, it won't happen, at least not anytime soon

I'm not so sure about that. Margarito isn't as textbook as Miguel, but he oozes strength and is just as determined and tough as Cotto.

What cracks me up is all the Floydster's saying Cotto wouldn't win a single round against Floyd. Grow the fuck up and take the pretty boy underoos off. Cotto is a world class fighter, of course he would win rounds, didn't Zab win some rounds against Floyd? Didn't Oscar? Would I pick Floyd? yes, but by a boring ass decision because Floyd would fight his non-entertaining way of throwing one or two and dancing away.

IMO, this is a pointless fight for Cotto right now. Floyd would fight just as Sly said, like he did against Baldomir. It would be a no win fight for Cotto. Even if he did fight the night of his life and pull out a decision, it would be far from entertaining. There are far too many entertaining big fights to make (Margarito, Cintron, Mosely) millions off and build up to a floyd ppv in a few years.

The natural fight for Floyd right now is Mosely. Mosely beat DLH twice. Floyd beat him once. Now the two DLH conquerers should face off. Funny how all the Floyd fans talk about Cotto-Mosely, funny how they don't seem to want or push for Floyd-Mosely. :dunno:

I think Williams is going to beat Margarito, but I'd take Cotto over Williams.

REED isn't Making a Prediction on Margarito-Williams,though it's an Intriguing Fight...

Williams is Still UNPROVEN to REED & Margarito has Always Been UNIMPRESSIVE to REED...So How do U Handicap that Matchup???

This is Williams' Litmus Test...It'd B FUNNY as Hell if he BEAT Margarito & Would Only SOLIDIFY REED's Belief that Margarito is VASTLY Overrated...But @ the Same Time,REED hasn't Seen Williams Beat Anybody to Make REED Feel CONFIDENT N picking him Over Margarito...

I gotta say, I gave Cotto a great chance of outworking Floyd. Like Tam said, at 30 years old in his 4th or 5th weight class Floyd doesn't have the same speed or level of activity he used to have, he needs this stinking style to beat the top fighters and perhaps he would, it's really hard not to pick Mayweather over everyone even at this weight classes but IMO Cotto has the size, strenght, will and stamina to outwork Floyd. This coming from a Floyd fan.

How do you see him beating Williams, LOK?
With those wide swings to the body and head from both hands?
I will say that Margarito is ambidextrous in the Federico Thompson way, and can wing both left and right hooks, which is extremely hard to do effectively for an orthodox fighter.
I see Williams as a better fighter, but you may be right as Antonio proved me wrong when I picked Kermit to put him on ice.

    Brothe Karl,

I have been a big fan of Margarito, not a "boxer" per say but the dude as you said, is Ambidextrous, and he is just relentless..

I just think he'll over work Williams with pressure..

we'll see soon enough I hope!

    Cotto cant beat Mayweather.

Cotto needs to fight these fighters first and in this order.

    Mosely
    Margarito
    Clottey

Then if he gets by these guys, then fight Mayweather. He wont win, but fight him.

best post of the thread. The sly one should recapitulate to the Baron on this one. :bears:

I think Mayweather's footwork is a factor, but if Floyd didn't have his ring smarts he is neither as fast, and prolly does not have as much power as Judah. He gets hit by Cotto one way or another.

Williams is a damn good fighter, but he is untested... No one knows how he'll react if Margarito swarms him and lands big, draining shots...

Williams may take that next step and handle Margarito, but at this point Antonio is by far the more proven guy. Even if you consider Margarito overrated, as I do, you still have to admit that the experience factor will weight heavily in his favor..

As a boxing fan, there are other fights I would rather see.
I prefer fights where the participants engage in a fight, rather than the couple of pot-shots at a time then on yer bike type stuff that PBF fights tend to degenerate in to.

Baloney Sly!! there are few certain things in boxing and my record as a predictor belie the fact that judges determine a lot of outcomes, and sometimes we all back the wrong horse... All the more reason when we are handed something in this game with the imprimteur of certaintly we should cherish it like a son a gift from the father. Here are two certanties

    1) Judah will always crapout after the 4th round if he is pressured.

    2) Mayweather has no to little power on his punches... why? because Mayweather has to protect his hands and cannot risk breaking his hand against a guy like Cotto who would hump on him the rest of the night like a horny male dog after a female in estrus time.

Mayweather buckles you with accuracy. You are extending your punch about to hit meat and BOOM! So you get a little shy the next time.

I think the order should be:

Margarito - Cotto likely wins by KO

Clottey - Cotto probably wins a close undeserved hotly disputed decision where Clottey as usual fades down the stretch but wins much of the early rds.

Mosley - Beats Cotto up and probably stops him.

Mayweather - Beats Cotto up and probably stops him and he does this without running around like he did with Baldomir. He see him fighting Cotto more like how he fought Judah in the pocket using defense and effective movement. I see this because Cotto doesn't have a size advantage over Mayweather like Baldomir or Castillo did. Contrary to popular belief this fight would be a lot more exciting than people think IMO. Similar to some of Floyds more exciting fights he had at 140.

 ,..Lib four Lib,...why is it that softer, smaller weaker opponents can go the distance with Cotto,.. but someone as large, strong, iron-chinned and as tough as Margarito, "will most likely get stopped" ?...especially when we've seen Cotto buzzed countless amounts of times, we've seen him wobbling around the ring badly hurt for entire rounds,..and Margarito doesn't take a backwards step, he doesn't stop coming forward, and he's an excellent finisher....it's ok if u think Cotto will win....but most likely by KO?...:dunno: "most likely by decision" is more rationale based on the evidence dont you think,..:nono: I just made a post to Illuminati on this,.."picking on emotion"..in this case.. your own lusting hatred for Margarito. :nono: ..it's distorting the facts. ---ps- sorry for the badly written sentences...I'm low on tablettes...

I don't want to see Floyd/Cotto. That fight would be boring. Cotto will try to press the fight and Floyd will throw one punch at a time while fighting defensive for 12 rounds. Floyd makes boring fights, his pot-shot style will never make a mega fight exciting to watch. Lets hope he stays retired and lets look forward to Cotto vs Margarito which is guaranteed to be exciting.

It's a myth that Floyd is a boring fighter. Y'all are acting like he's Cory Spinks or something.

He was SMART to not engage too much with the naturally bigger and very powerful De La Hoya at the high weight of 154lbs.

Against Baldomir he was beating him up pretty agressively until he hurt his hand.

Before that he was the agressor against Zab, against Mitchell, against Gatti, against Ndou, Soza...

You guys just jump BLINDLY onto bandwagons without thinking for yourselves.

I like you Kauki, I really do, to the point where everytime I have to diss your boy it pains me. What I can't understand for the life of me is why you latched on to this guy in the first place. What is the appeal? Why do you like this guy? I beg you to leave him, put him in a basket and leave him on your neighbors doorstep.

Let's face it, Cotto/Mayweather will be boring. Floyd will not engage Cotto. He will simply outpoint Cotto over 12 boring rounds. I'm looking forward to Cotto/Margarito. Floyd is like a plaque for boxing.
