They should just say that - even though that much isn't even true. I forget who he faced on ShoBox (I think it was Marvin Cordova) but that fight lasted one round and ended on a headbutt. No knockdowns, AFAIK. Pretty sure that Alfred Kotey (former bantamweight champ) also went the distance sans knockdowns, as well as one or two others whose names escape me. Point being, it's a Golden exaggeration that has gained press so they continue to run with it.
Now that Khan is a pro, and a pretty improved one from when he was more of an amateur just a while ago, and matched him against prime Kindelan in a PRO fight, yes he would kill him. Because mikE you see, we're not talking about amateur boxing, we're talking about professional fighting. Not hard to understand.
Well they have to do something to draw fan interest in a guy who on paper doesn't have a shot in hell of winning this fight, so to be honest the lies don't surprise me at all. I mean most of Floyds career is a sham so why not continue shoveling the bullshit so as he puts it, he can steal some more money. And that is exactly what Floyd does by taken on these easy challenges. He's stealing money while fooling his fan base into thinking he's something special. Well maybe he is special but since he refuses to prove it we'll never know for sure.
Interesting that fighters who beat other fighters in the amateurs tend to beat them in the pros, as well, isn't it? Wonder why that is?
It's NOT Across the Board Though... For Every Forrest-Mosley Scenario, U've Got Cotto-Abdullaev or Cotto-Kelson Pinto...Hell, Roy Jones Beat Antonio Tarver EVERY TIME they Fought as Ammy's, yet Tarver's CLEARLY Gotten the Better of their 3 Pro Fights...Jermain Taylor BEAT Kelly Pavlik in the Ammy's... NO Headgear, SMALLER Gloves, MORE Rounds, Looooooooooooooooooonger Rounds...PRO Boxing is a DIFFERENT Animal Altogether.... REED:shadow:
Don't forget Tyson Vs Tillman and many other extreme examples. It's a completely different game. It seems to be about 50/50 from what I've seen, of how they fair against each other in the amateurs and pros. There are also countless great amateurs who are literally nothing in the pros at world level, as well as some of the best fighters of all time having pretty much no amateur background at all. If a prime Kindelan was transported in time to right now, and fought Khan in his first professional fight he'd get absolutely destroyed. If you can't see that, you're insane. That's how different amateurs and pros are.
This is not about picking sides between Mayweather or Pacquiao, although inevitably every thread about either of them comes down to that. My personal opinion is that neither of them care much about fighting each other. Whatever the case, I definitely think that there is more motivation for TR, G, and the fighters to make the fight if these "consolation bouts" don't make as much money as they have been. Which is why I hope that every fight with May and Pac that isn't against each other fails at the box office.
There are many negative fronts that will be left by Floyd's legacy if it is to be considered as a detailed stretch in time, mainly concerning his behaviour, ..........but if one of those fronts is to encourage the use of stricter drug testing into professional boxing,.. I regard that as good a legacy as one could leave considering this filthy, corrupt, disgraceful sport.
Floyd's just been that much better than his opponents not that his career is a sham. Hearnandez, Manfredy, Castillo, Corrales, Mitchell, Judah, Baldomir, Hatton, De La hoya, Mosley were decent challenges at the time when Floyd fought them.
Floyd's career hasn't been as great as it could/should have been, but come on now. He's a legitimate HOFer, titlist in 5 divisions, 3 lineal, and one of the greatest 130 lb. fighters ever.
yeah they were decent...best names on his resume were Mosley and De La Hoya both who were wayyy past their best.... Mitchell? He wasn't decent..he was GARBAGE...esp. at the time Mayweather fought him... Bumdomir? Decent? Lucky that Judah was a mental midget...Bumdomir just like Ortiz today was a easy mark..and since Mayweather brings the most MONEY...he got at him first..before Margarito, Williams or any other decent 147 pounder at the moment. Mayweather did his best work at 135 and under...
I disagree that Manny doesn't want the Mayweather fight. I actually think he wants it badly. What I think Manny doesn't want is the testing issue brought up again. Why else is his team being so quiet and letting the issue die? I seriously doubt it's because they don't want the fight because Manny's no coward and probably believes he could beat Mayweather. So if I had to guess I think they don't want the testing issue brought up again for obvious reasons.
Garbage in, garbage out. It's not a completely different game and it's way, way, way more than 50/50 in favor of the guy who wins in the ams. Of course there are exceptions. That's just common sense.
Oh, I must have missed where there was a consensus on this Floyd is a CANDIDATE for the top spot, but when could easily make the case for Chavez or Arguello based on superior overall opposition or on Flash Elorde for longevity coupled with excellent opponents But the idea that it's a settled argument is preposterous Duran is MOST LIKELY number one at 135, but MANY people would place Whitaker there You and loadedgloves saying they are 1 and 1 does not settle the issue
