He literally took the hardest fight available to him 8 consecutive times. In a modern context thats 'crazy competition'

No doubt Calzaghe was a REAL BITCH in his prime....He might have ended with a better career had he fought Jones back in the early 2000's taken his defeat like a man and moved on...he would have turn into a real fighter and taken more risky fights. But his whole career he wanted to protect that 0...

I'm not buying this. Calzaghe is much like Bute, all about potential and what he could have done.

We know how Froch react against most type of fighters, as he faced a lot of different styles of world class fighter and was always competititve

Calzaghe fought one and a half world class fighter, and is more of a question mark than Froch

Froch would Ko' the Jones that Calzaghe fought....but I think he lose to the Hopkins of Calzaghe..

and of course Froch will lose to prime version of both....

because you know you don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning that argument

If we are not talking about the quality of competition, then the point is moot.

I love dummies like you who equate realizing that the present era of boxing SUCKS MOOSE TESTICLES is the equivalent to thinking like Bert Sugar. Bert Sugar thought Rocky Graziano was a great fighter. He was a story teller, a phony and a moron.

If you would like to delude yourself into thinking that boxing hasn't taken a huge nose-dive in the last 20 years, by all means, be my guest. I'm basing my opinion on actually watching thousands of fights, not on some fucking stories by Grantland Rice.

You could count on one hand the amount of guys fighting right now who'd be top fighters at any time between 1950 and 2000. If you can't see it, that's not my problem. I wish I could remember when you turned into a joke of a poster, but I can't because I've never noticed you much.

It would be hard to argue that this isn't the worst era ever. I would just like to ask how FROCH'S resume against his contemporaries which is the ONLY reasonable standard.I would also like a list of whom he has ducked.

There is literally NO-ONE that Froch hasn't fought out of every guy at the top end of his division who he could have fought. Regardless of the era being gash, there are very few fighters who can truly say that and those who can are mainly ATG's. Not only has he faced them all, he's travelled where and where required to do it and he has still won many more than he has lost.

Conteh, a legit bad man, would have fucked Froch up I agree, but that isn't the issue here, is it?

JOM made it the issue by disagreeing in the first place that the era was gash, Feebs

I never once said Froch hadn't fought the best of his era

In every era there's clown like you that claims it's the worst era ever. it's called nostalagia and it happens to most weak minded people (like yourself, no wonder you're a drug addict).

There's more people than ever practicing boxing (or at least as much as ever), not to mention the improvement in nutition, training technioques and drugs, so there's no rationall evidence of this so called draught in talent, except if you believe in the jingoist notion that since american no longer dominate the sport, it sucks.

as I said before, I don't think this era great, bit it's far from being the joke some of you delusionned fools claim it is

    I am?

Has nothing to do with that at all, but you are a jackass and no matter how many times this is explained to you, you insist on repeating it as fact. It's a load of sensationalist trash, much like your avatar, Bonhomme

Dan Rafael wrote in his article that Froch basically said he has no interest in a rematch with Ward.

    Uncharacteristically, you're missing the point.

Nobodies comparing him to Ezzard Charles, just praising the fact that he keeps fighting the best available & taking huge career risks fight after fight after fight. Thats 8 in a row that have been pick 'ems or 60/40 fights at worst.

Yep. It's not about how amazing they are, it's the fact that he took one one of the toughest fights available to him 8 times in a row, that's more or less unprecedented in boxing these days.

Precisely, its all relative. Froch has been fighting the best guys available consistently. He jumped from Eamon Magee and Robin Reed to Jean Pascal, almost overnight, and hasn't looked back since. He reminds me of Brian Mitchell, the South African, the original road warrior, taking consistent hard fights on the road.

Haven't seen the fight yet, but I would guess the outcome has a lot to do with the fact Froch has fought far better comp then Bute over the past several years............win or lose, and has grown as a fighter because of it.

    A rarity nowadays, unfortunately.

If Bute had gotten himself involved in the Super 6, instead of a string of gatekeepers like Andrade and Miranda, he may have developed his potential a lot more then he did.

Also, as far as the Froch argument. Yes, it's a weaker era........but he has also been active in probably the deepest division of the era. It's a shame Calzaghe pissed off out of the division as soon as things started getting really good.

I guess the point im making is that i dont consider Bute, Johnson, Abraham, Pascal risks. The risks he took were Kessler & Ward and he got beat.

By your logic, Glenn Johnson has had a better career than Froch.

    very good fighter, underrated.

He was not excellent at any one thing, but he was good at everything. Versatile, hard-working, scrappy and tough.

Man, it's easy to say fights like Bute were not risks in retrospect. It's bogus though.
