that creep carl "the caterpillar" fraud is getting nearly 13 and a half million? :: what a crock of shite
Not poor America at all. I know it's hip to hate America and all and to blame it for all the world's problems (our own president does). Just figured maybe a joke at the expense of Finns could've done without insulting America. Seemed sort of gratuitous.
For awhile I was thinking Groves had a chance here. More and more I think about it though, I think he blew the chance he had in the first fight. I think I'm pretty confident in saying that old man farmer will stop him again, this time in legit fashion. After that, I have no interest in seeing Froch unless he's beating up Chumpez Junior, or getting beaten up by GGG or Kov.
A ginger bread man climbing through a horse shoe? A kitten with pink ears holding a nutcracker? What's going on?
Groves might be the LEAST intimidating looking fighter of all time. Anybody who doesn't follow boxing who would probably pick a fight with the guy thinking he'd be an easy victim, not knowing that he'd beat the shit outta the average man.
It annoys me that George Groves is Hounslows sole representative on the global boxing stage. If he wasn't a boxer he'd be one of those twats that have a night out at The Works, before chatting shit to random people in Chick-o-land and then drunkenly stuffs ketchup-coated chips into his mouth on the top deck of the night bus going home.
Froch is a pretty big dude. If he worked as a builder or something and was in 'normal guy' shape he'd probably be pushing 15 stone.
So in Yank land, the Donaire fight in Macau on tape delay airs first on HBO at 4PM EST, which is running simultaneously with DeGale/Gonzales. 5PM EST has Froch/Groves II while the Sturm-Soliman re-match airs at the same time but on ESPN3
This is a massive fight in the UK. Any fucker who thinks boxing is done should take notice - more people will be in attendance than watched Eubanks-Benn II, which is mad when you consider that both those old cunts would have demolished these two. Been out drinking with my little bro all day and all anyone wants to talk to me about is this fight. Groves was an entertaining shit when he was sorting Chunky out but I hope Froch kicks the fucking shit out him. I've got a horrible feeling the Farmer might be done, but still pitching for a late round Farmer stoppage. War Froch! MTF
Cannot call this one. I think the only chance to make real money on this one will be the "In-fight" betting, if they even offer it. Lets face it, if George Groves had some real steel, some real grit, he would be one good fighter. He has fast, loose, long arms, a great jab up and down to body and a very very good right hand. He has plenty of balls and packets of handspeed, and is not at all short on confidence. He is probably the single most improved fighter currently sniffing around the top of ANY given division right now. He just lacks real toughness. He can be, as they used to say, "got at". Froch, ironically, is something of an inverse of the above. He has all the toughness and none of the finesse. Froch usually looks long armed and rangy against anybody you put him in with but against Groves he looked like a T-Rex against an Octopus. For me, the fight is decided by determining just which point of Frochs now inevitable downward trajectory meets with George Groves upward trajectory. By way of a filter, of fine-tuning your decision, you will also have to consider just how lightly Froch took Groves in their first fight. But thats's a secondary concern. Nobody has planted Froch on his arse like that. Not even Taylor. Froch might have gone out that round if that shot lands a minute earlier. But then again...Froch did walk onto it out of sheer disrespect for Groves, the perennial ugly duckling of English boxing. After Beijing 2008, Groves was touted for fuck all. Now, 6 years later, Darren Sutherland is dead, Chunky is cottaging in Fulham for his lunch and Jaffa Jeffries is up to the square-root of precisely fuck all. They took their eye off Groves. I am going to go with Groves. Froch won the rematch with Kessler by dint of a couple of factors, like Kessler having those miles on the clock, and Froch making a subtle adjustment with the jab etc. But Groves isn't going to lose a jabbing war with Froch. Groves cannot be outjabbed by Froch. His reach is too good his jab is took good. I think Froch is going to win the first few rounds, Carl will get impatient and walk onto big stuff. Froch will finish stronger but Groves will have a few more rounds in the bank.
Froch is agrarian at the best of times but his rushes move from effective nonsense to ineffective and counter-productive when he becomes desperate. People have forgotten the Dirrell fight, mostly because of how Dirrell behaved and how little he did after, and also because of how Carl kicked on to big things. But Carl was awful that night and the harder he tried to hit Dirrell, the worse he looked. And that's when he was fresh. That's like 6 years ago or something. If Carl falls behind, he will get stupid and farmerish and he will get tagged.
Eubank Benn II seems bigger in retrospect so it is a great point you make. I think you are just falling into the simpleton trap of thinking those two would 'demolish' these guys, though. Nobody demolishes Froch and Groves has already proven he can hang with top guys. Oh, and 90's guys like Eubank and Benn can't be that good because they weren't fighting in the 80's. Or have the 90's finally caught up to the 80's and now their fighters are superior, too?
eubank would make whoopee to froch. really one sided fight. froch would be a pickum against (bob) eubanks.
I don't see Eubank and Benn being in different class to Froch and Groves either. They might finish on top of a four-men tournament, but none of those fights would be one-sided. This era is not THAT bad that all the best fighters now would totally suck
