I remember getting slammed on these boards when (prior to the Calzaghe bout) I wrote that Kessler's resume wasn't too far off from Lacy's and I didn't understand the hype. Watching him get beat up every time he steps up is getting too funny for words. Froch is the best style matchup for him so I give him a great shot. But, at this point, there's no doubting that he was never as good as the hype so many fed into.

Joony that strikes me as an odd thing to say. The fighting farmer is severely lacking in finesse, but I wouldn't say he's robotic.

If anyone is robotic, it's Kessler, he's the definition of robotic. Sure he jabs and has some boxing skill, but he's completely 1 dimensional with it, showing no ringsmarts or adaptabillity whatsoever.

I'll be shocked if Kessler doesn't beat Froch.

Prepare to be shocked. Not only was Kessler overrated before losing to Calzaghe, but if the Ward fight is anything to go by, he's a shell of the fighter he was too.

And as for the Fighting Farmer - as absurd as he is, and as sloppy as he can look, the boy can fight, and he has a lot of heart and endurance and determination.

Kessler maybe robotic, but Froch fights like a mummy, and Kess will find him an inviting target to hit.

I think it's absurd to think that Kessler's troubles with Ward mean he will have trouble with Froch. If he loses to Froch it will be for entirely different reasons than for his loss to Ward.

Froch is the best style matchup for Kessler. He should win. But we don't know because we don't know how good (or bad) Kessler is. He's failed at every step up.

Yeah. His list of good wins is thin. But he had no problems with Andrade, who is probably better than Froch.

Nobody is using that as a stylistic reference, obviously it has no bearing stylewise.

Quite simply - Kessler looked shit. Most of that was Ward making him look shit, but even before he started to take a beating, he looked pretty inept, and significantly worse than the pre Calzaghe Kessler.

I think even the pre Calzaghe Kessler was overrated (I can't believe most people picked Kessler to win that fight) - but I even I can tell that Kessler isn't the same fighter since being beaten.

So although someone as crude as the Fighting Farmer is someone that Kessler should do well against, Kessler could be there for the taking, and the fact is - Frock has truly shown the mettle to win in the Pascale, Taylor and Dirrell fights. Something Kessler hasn't shown. That's why I'm picking Frock.

Do you still think Andrade would have beaten Calzaghe, Double L?

I don't think so. Unless you rate Andrade's win over Yusef Mack that highly.

No he fucking isn't. Don't be ridiculous.

Froch is a better version of Andrade, if a comparison is to be drawn. And as I said earlier, Kessler SHOULD have no real problems, based on the way he dealt with Andrade. But it remains to be seen if that version of Kessler still exists. The evidence of his last fight suggests that it doesn't.

I don't recall making that claim, Slice N Dice. If I did, I'd be more interested now in seeing Sloppy Joe face Bute than Andrade.

    ....

Dirrell landed punches in a lot of rounds. Sure he fought a scared fight but the truth is despite the sissy manner in which he fought, he won 7 rounds. In fact I would give him 8 rounds before I gave him 6. I have a history of hating Dirrell (his fight against Stevens was pathetic) but a deserved win is just that.
