His record's there. I find it strange to begrudge a guy who gave as good as he got with Moore, Charles, Williams, Smith, Marshal, Zivic etc a HOF place. All those guys warrant remembering.
Well, that description you just made covers a wide range of middleweights and light heavyweights from that particular era, then. And I don't think all of them should be in the hall of fame, either.
I think many of them should. And he beat a bunch of other guys worth remembering too - Lytel, Chase, Wade etc. Not all of these guys should be in the HOF of course but its fitting that a few are and the rest get the recognition they deserve by proxy. Hard to begrudge them that much of a consolation prize from a sport that treated them so shoddily
Thanks for all the kind words, constructive criticism, and support. Really appreciate it..will keep you all informed about upcoming fights Jerren Cochran
Hey Jerren, cool to have you on. I hope you go far mate, boxing needs more young fighters with old school style skills. :bears: Keep us posted.
JC's training partner Marlen Esparza fights tomorrow in the quarterfinals of the World Combat Championships in Russia. We all wish her luck and are proud of her representation and she'll give a hell of an effort as always and are pulling for her to win the Gold Medal.
I heard Mike Oliver's name being mentioned as a possible opponent for Jerren. Oliver is a fair southpaw, but Jay will knock him flat. That will be a good win on his record.
Marlen won her match today in Russia. Next up in the semi-finals is the Russian champion that was awarded a hotly disputed decision over her in Chicago.
It appears we have a couple of jealous wannabee comedians here in GD. The only humor about them is their lack of boxing knowledge. Yes, Rocky let his hands go as he always does in training. It has been in big fights that he loads up looking for one shot that has been discussed here many times throughout the past decade. It was a real pitched battle between the two yesterday as Jay is developing nicely as a pro with both fighters in good condition.
folks, I just came from the gym where i saw Daniel "Sweet Pea" Ponce Deleon spar a dozen rounds with this up and coming kid. world class stuff!!
