700,000 for the fight and he had already signed the contract.

    This smells of FEAR.

No it doesn't. It smells of greed and a lack of professionalism.

Holy fuck, that is unbelievable, I didn't realise Gamboa was that much of a cunt. Damn shame, Gamboa is one of my favourite fighters to watch now.

What's absurd is he'd signed the fucking contract.

Kim is speculating that it could be promoter issues. Apparently it's no secret in the industry he's having issues with his lead promoter Ahmet Oner.

    Whole situation sucks.

So where else is he gonna make more money??

    Broner??? He's not there yet.

Donaire??? Still at 122 and probably won't move up for a few more years.

Juanma???? Already lost and not that big a star anyway.

    He's scared. Simple as that.

That's one way of looking at it, if you're 12 or something.

I'd be interested to see what the real reason is. I don't know much about little Yuriorkis, but it just seems a bit too weird he suddenly decides the money isn't enough, once he's already signed the contract.

700k isn't exactly pocket money either, it's surely a fair bit more than he's received before right?

Yeah, well I think until there's an official comment with team Gamboa it's all speculation.

Nah, whatever the reason, it's pretty hard to defend tbh.

If the fight is off, he's let people down and put a massive dent in his rep, seems like a very short sighted move.

I agree with Slice, boxing has been more and more disappointing recently.

It won't be long before a Brit win another World Title.

They are also hosting the Olympics and have a big black kid they hope can change the course of the war. He's sort of like the V1 or the V2, they are going to tie a chunk of gold to his bollox and fuck him at mainland Europe and see what happens. My guess is the Krauts come marching up Whitehall anyways but who knows.

In the meantime- this is a cash money game- and if this fight has fallen through over money then that sucks but it is to be expected. Its professional boxing. As George Foreman said of Tyson in 1987- its about making as much money as you can and being the titlist for as long as you can.

Believe it or believe it not, most boxers regard the fans collective sense of entitlement as being purely incidental to their own survival and aggrandizement. I sincerely hope this is not coming as a surprise to folk.

Don't distance yourself from your brothers...you BRIT.

Besides...you and your fellow countrymen can place all your hopes in Amir Khan.

Since when do I even like Brit fighters?

Truth be told I haven't even been much of a fan of a British fighter since my boy Eubs and Nigel Benn. I quite like Hatton and Frock, but wouldn't go as far as to say I'm a fan of either.

I don't get the whole blind patriotism thing when it comes to boxing, I like who I like, I don't care what country they are from. Well, apart from maybe Germany, that's where I draw the line.

I'm not into blind patriotism either. Though saying that, James DeGale will dominate world boxing and Joe Calzaghe is the greatest of all time.

Also, Irish, were you talking about Anthony Joshua? He looks pretty good, nobody is saying he's going to kill the Klitschkos or anything, he hasn't even turned pro . He just has potential, is all. I think people will generally be wary of going over the top after the colossal tits up that went by the name of Audley

My same thoughts. I'll be rooting for Gamboa, but will not be surprised if he gets starched.

Joshua is a big lump of a lad, I am alluding more to the hype he is getting, you can see him being rolled out on Ringside now as of recent. Johnny Flotsom is well impressed by him. He has a lot of promise, I will grant you that, and did very well at the World, bit shallow as it was, he was still facing a vastly more experienced foe. I watched the Cammarelle fight and it was much closer than Bunce El Dunce had been saying it was .

There wasn't much of him on YouTube when I looked him up before, but the little I saw he looked good. Do you think he could do well in the pros? Sounds like you've probably caught more of him than I have to be fair.
