Yeah, I know. Two actors unrelated to each other, having a weird half blood related simulated porking on a fictional show.

Nah but you sure seem to want to equate what happens on the show to your stance in real life. I wouldn't call making an observation complaining either.

In the context of game of thrones we're desensitized to incest. So no need to complain if jon snow is banging his aunt. In real life we're desensitized to batty boys and that's why I don't see you complaining about seeing renly Baratheon bang ser loras tyrell

Hopefully, we'll know more about the White walkers' motivations in GOT season 8. We know they've been beyond the wall since the last period of darkness, about a thousand year ago. What lead them to raise that undead army? Why are they about to march on south westeros? What is their essence? Are they undead or simply an entirely other specie? Who's the Night King?

Maybe there's more information in the books but from the series they're simply living evil things that want to destroy humanity. But, in GOT, there's always more than meet the eye and I remember reading an interview with Martin in which he said he hates stories where bad guys are simply bad guys because they're bad guys. He also said one's enemy is always someone else's hero. That's why I believe the white walkers' side of the story will be developped in the next season. It will certainly be even more developped in the upcoming book, if Martin doesn't die before finishing it.

BTW I felt season 7 was a bit of a let down. I've enjoyed it for sure but I really enjoyed season 6 more, which was certainly the most satisfying one.

    They explained it last season

White walkers are not undead...they are an entirely new species that were created by the children of the forest to fight the first men. They were created by shoving dragon glass into the heart of a first man. Their sole aim is to destroy everyone else

Yeah, now that you say it, I remember, it was explained in season 6. Still, what brought them to on the path of war? What brought the first truce? It seems something ended it. Well, I might be reading too much into it, they might simply bad guys for the sake of having bad guys.

I think it's fairly obvious the rest of the series is going to be average or will at least continue the trend of head scratching decisions by many of the characters.

The fact George RR didn't finish the books for season seven is the obvious difference here. It was his genius that created this franchise and the 2 guys who took over the story for the show are only halfassing it now that they don't have his books to use as an outline.

I thought the season was excellent, although I can see why some may be disappointed. There were definitely some questionable decisions on the part of the writers though...specifically the decision to go beyond the wall to capture a wight. That was ridiculous.

What was even more ridiculous was knowing that if you kill the knight king, all the wights will die. So why not just sic all three dragons on his ass?

End the war today? I'd make that deal. How about you D&M, would you make that deal?

Getting a wight did make sense though. It was all a myth to everyone who hasn't seen one.

Sure...but it's a suicide mission (if logic holds up).

[In the voice of Boromir/Ned Stark] One does not simply march into the lands of the Walkers and capture a wight.

Not if the plan was to show it to Cersi. Anyone who knew her (Tyrion) should have known she would be untrustworthy whether the zombie apocalypse was on the horizon or not.

tried a few episodes of this show, just to see what all the fuss is about. when something's had this big of a cultural impact, you have to at least understand the bare basics.

having watched 4 episodes, i think i'm never gonna be a fan. and i actively dislike the incredibly dark, miserable violence. one scene where two people were hunting a girl through a forest with bow and arrows and hunting dogs. they wound her, then let the dogs eat her alive. they make her brother watch this happen to his sister.... that kind of shit shouldn't be committed to film.

Wait. You just watched four random episodes in the middle of what sounds like season 4? You didn't even start at the beginning with season 1 episode 1?

i looked at a few reviews and they said season 4 was the best or one of the best seasons, and season 1 one of the worst. so watched the first few episodes of season 4. granted, some of it's confusing. i don't know why those kids are up in the snow looking for a three-eyed raven, and not sure who that girl with "the hound" is and where they're running from or to.

This tells me that you randomly watched a few episodes in a middle season. That's ridiculous. You have to watch it from the beginning to "get it". It's not one of those shows you can just pick up in the middle.

Rooster my man...rooster !!!!! You're killing me. Game of Thrones is like one long film....you have to start at the beginning. It's not like the A Team where you can just watch random episodes and get into it.

You did the show a disservice doing that and no wonder you don't like it

I disagree season 1 is the weakest. I think season 5 might be the weakest to me. Season 1 is probably boring to people who enjoy the show for sword fights and dragons. IMO season 1 is good because that is when you meet the characters, see the story arc developing and get some great dialogue and drama.

I knew another guy who watched a random episode and doesn't like the show either, you have to start at the beginning. Even Dark Magus who hates GOT started at the beginning. That at least tells me the show just isn't for him.

You what? There's basically no show on tv now without continuity. Jumping in half way through is an awful idea.

Even Seinfeld had callbacks. I'm not sure any shows these days can be jumped in without watching from the start.

i have to watch this thing for like 30+ hours before i - hopefully - begin to appreciate it? don't know if i can make that kind of investment, and sit through watching all those spears being thrust into people's heads.

I hear you man, it's an investment but you can't just stampede to the clitoris like that. You've gotta go slow feel out the show first and see if you can get invested in the characters.

It didn't hook me immediately and I love this stuff. I actually enjoyed the earlier seasons more the second time through. The first few eps definitely drag and there's a lot of exposition and character introduction.

I think it is worth the watch but I will warn you it is not a show for the faint of heart. Westeros is a very cruel land and the show doesn't shy away from it. Not every bad guy is going to get their comeuppance. Not every good person meets a rich end. I hope you give it a chance.
