No he shouldn't. Because Lomachenko lost and quite frankly the split decision was generous, most had him losing by 2-3 rounds. So clearly it was a stupid as hell decision that did nothing but show that a hypejob was nowhere near the level he was projected to be.

A rare moment I'm in total agreement with REED.

There's no little ribbons given out for losing fights.

But the key fact here is despite it being a silly, overambitious bit of matchmaking, it won't dent Vasyl's rep at all. I mean fuck, this WBO ranking should be ample proof of that. So yeah, there obviously are little ribbons given out for losing fights if they are close fights against world class opponents in your 2nd pro fight.

It's not like he got battered, he did lose, but finished the stronger of the two and didn't come close to getting stopped or really beaten up.

How do you think little Gary would fare against the weight cheating Salido in Texas? I think he'd get slapped about.

To Be Clear, the WBO AIN'T Ranking Lomachenko Off of MERIT, they're Ranking Him Off of AFFILIATION w/Top Rank & the FACT Lomachenko's Purse Equates to a LARGER Sanctioning Fee...

I've got $100 on Lomachenko over Russell. You and REED can bet $50 each against me or whatever. You think it's so bad that he is getting a 2nd title shot? Back it up. Actually, I don't mind Russell and prefer not to bet against guys I like so I would prefer that you bet someone else, but here I am if no one else takes you up on it.

You picked Donaire as being better than Lomachenko at featherweight. Fair enough. That you need to go to a p4p guy to make your point makes my point.

While I think Lomachenko's world series fights should not count on his pro record, the fact is that those fights were pro fights. He's really not 1-1 and the guys he beat at the world series are all going to be quality fighters.

I wasn't overly impressed with Lomachenko against Salido. I agree with MSW's assessment of the fight. But, I do think he'll beat Russell and I do think the WBO is justified in giving him another title shot and most importantly, I'm willing to back it up. Are either of you?

its quite typical for a boxer who loses a semi close decision ( to an opponent who missed the weight ) to be ranked 1 or 2 for that title. you shouldve been bitching at the WBOgus when lomachenko got the initial title shot, not now after he proved himself worthy

Instead of Offering Up Some Wager to SAVE FACE, just ADMIT Sanctioning Bodies ARE NOT the Beacon of Boxing Hope You PORTRAY them to Be, Dude...

There was a CLEAR, DEFINED Top 10-15 WBO Featherweight Ranking, PRIOR to Lomachenko's Debut, 2 Fights Ago...w/Out Looking, REED's Quite Confident MOST of Those Same Guys are STILL in the Mix...Nonetheless, the WBO is FUCKING THEM OVER by Placing ANY 1-1 Guy in an Eliminator, Over Them...It's Really THAT Simple...

Not Looooooooooong Ago, YOU Championed Sanctioning Bodies for "Looking Out for the 'Little Guy' " & Giving them EQUAL Opportunities to Titles/Wealth as More Well Known Fighters...Yet HERE we Stand Today, w/a Sanctioning Body SHITTING on the Very Thing YOU Praised them for & You have NATHAN to Say About It???...ADMIT Your Faith in Sanctioning Bodies was MISGUIDED & Let's Move the Fuck On...

Misguided? I think disturbing or nauseating are more appropriate.

And, yet, if you make a top 7 list in each weight class, the current champs of the 4 main sanctioning bodies will be included with very few exceptions.

The fight is scheduled now for the 21st of june. Maybe you motherfuckers can offer a prediction now instead of arguing who's resume is better. :num:

The obvious question is why the hell isn't Russell facing Salido?

Apparently you do win a title shot 3 months later if you take the 'vacating' champ to a split decision.

Did either of them fight a defending champ - with a weight disadvantage no less - and take him to a 12 round split decision? If they had somebody would have given a fuck about them!

Either way, whether the guy deserves the shot or not, it should be good.

Obviously this guy was overrated going into his performance with Salido.

Let's see if he learned anything from that. Of course, whatever that is may not apply when it comes to Russell who couldn't be more different than Salido.

It's apparent Lomachenko doesn't wanna be in it for the long haul and hopes to make a good amount of money in a short period of time. He might have, if he's smart, made sure that would happen whether he wins or not.
