Fair enough. I'll concede that it was a bad example. Still, there are many examples of people fighting smaller fighters moving up. That's my real point.

GGG isn't a big middleweight. He could fight at 154.

Okay, I'll bite. If GGG was fighting Floyd, you'd be riding his nuts, aye?

What does Brook normally weigh on fight night? Around 160? GGG around 165-170?

Well, he never did. So this is again unfounded assumptions by Golovkin fans.

That 80/20 thing was from 2015. Hearn said they couldn't make the Khan/Brook bout because Khan's people asked for an 80/20 split. Some guy, who supposedly was neutral in the negotiations, said on fightnews that it never happened. Hearn lied about it. Like I said, all of Brook's fights fall through because of the other guy's team. 36 fights, one name. Funny how that always happens.

GGG fighting floyds would have been the equivalent of Hagler fighting Duran, no?

Objectively Floyd is as great/talented as Duran and he's also won titles at 154lbs.

So if the issue is that Kell Brook is crap, then fair enough. But if the issue is that Brook is a welterweight, then we should criticize many other fighters in history who have done the same thing

It would have been a better approximation that Brook/Duran. The point is that Brook is BOTH a welterweight AND crap.

I don't especially like or dislike either guy and I don't follow what they do outside the ring which is why it's clear Brook would fuck Khan up at this point and it's been at this point for a couple years. You have to have some emotional investment not to see that.

Khan struggled with the strength, pressure and laser right hand of Chris Algieri. Lol

Fair enough. Still Brook doesn't look crap to me. Having said that I've only watched highlights of his fights.

it is both: he is crap AND moving up. which makes it worse than crap alone.

You should have cited gatti vs Joey Gamache to make your point.

Gatti was a middleweight, Gamache was a Jr. welterweight.

Brook ain't bad, it's just that we don't know how good he really is until he's properly tested. Carson Jones really took it to him in their first meeting and Brook struggled once he started to tire, but he adjusted in the rematch and dismantled Jones. Brook was a clear winner against Porter in my opinion. His right hand was the difference.

Brook may very well land a good few right hands on GGG, but Golovkin won't be troubled by them. He's taken big shots off of Stevens and Lemieux.

    ´Brook will be a wrecking machine´

Great Britain's Kell Brook will show devastating power against middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, says WBC cruiserweight title holder Tony Bellew.
Brook, 30, is the IBF welterweight champion but will move up two weight divisions to fight for Golovkin's WBA, WBC and IBF world middleweight titles.

The two unbeaten fighters will meet in London on 10 September and Brook can cause an upset, according to Bellew.
"Kell Brook at 11 stone will be an absolute wrecking machine," he said. "A lot of people are scared of Golovkin's power but Brook's stepped up and should only be commended.
Do not write him off. These are two men who can land big punches and it can end at any time but Kell Brook is a serious athlete and deserves massive credit for taking this fight."

Brook's decision to fight Golovkin comes after another British welterweight, Amir Khan, moved up two weights in May to take on Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, with the Mexican winning with a sixth-round knockout.
"Everyone showed respect to Khan when he stepped up to face Canelo," added Bellew in an interview with BBC Sport. "Brook should receive the same recognition for taking on the most feared middleweight anyone has seen since Marvin Hagler."

He's a big welterweight and fighters moving from welterweight to middleweight isn't exactly uncommon in boxing history.

Carrying whatever power they have at that initial weight up is, though.

    This isn´t going to be a Thomas Hearns-esque power-retain...

Brook hasn't fought at 160 before, he hasn't been hit by a middleweight. He's going from Jo Jo Dan to Gavin to Bizier to Golovkin.

Untrue. He moved up to 155 lbs to take on Canelo. It's disingenuous to call that 2 weight classes.

Not a fan of Hearn by any means but this is actually a pretty good interview:

Hilarious that it takes almost political negotiating these days to make fights when there´s so little money at stake.

The problem with that interview is that Hearn is a proven liar. Everything out of his mouth is false.

The part about the Eubanks at least is 100% believable IMO. Especially as fish-eyed Frank said pretty much the exact same thing.

Yep, Fwank said the same about Eubank Sr. He's a control freak and delusional. He said that his son is BIGGER than Joshua.
