100%. Canelo isn't "outboxing" Golovkin, he'll have to throw down and hurt him enough to back him off in order to win.

I don't think he will, I think he'll go into his shell late rounds and try to survive.

Sly has managed to overrate Canelo's boxing skills to absurd levels.

Have to admit, if you "actually" picked those fights right, pretty impressive. But for all those, I am sure there are plenty you missed. Who did you pick in Tito/Hopkins?

I picked Tito...but...and this is the truth...only because I was a die hard Tito fan at the time and didn't want to pick against him on the forum. In my heart I always knew that Hopkins was going to win, truth be told. lol

I picked Hopkins over Tito. I also picked Tito over Vargas, at a point where a lot of people were going for Nando.

I guess my MOST wrong pick of those years was picking Judah to KO Tszyu. Whoooops.

When tito was blazing through 154, I said Hopkins was the only guy who could possibly beat him. But ultimately I picked Tito... probably because of the plaster beating he gave Joppy.

A lot of people picked not only Vargas over Trinidad, but many were also siding with Reid to beat Trinidad.

Tszyu-Judah I had gotten right, but Zab at the time was knocking everyone out.

I picked Hopkins over Pavlik, but picked Tarver over Hopkins.

You're full of shit Sly. I remember Trinidad & Tobago/Slystaff making cases after cases for Trinidad against Hopkins on Secondsout. You were showing the same kind of confidence you're showing here with your Canelo pick, if not more confidence.

The Sly one hasn't fooled me.

I don't think it'll be Corrales-Castillo, that's for sure. If people are expecting that, they'll be disappointed.

It'll be exciting though, I think. Just one sided down the stretch. Golov's class will tell over time.

I can't disagree with this...I was indeed projecting confidence on the forum over Tito. That's because I was a Tito fan and the board was filled with Tito haters at the time. However, I knew Hopkins was going to nurder him deep down. Whenever I've been genuinely wrong about a fight I've admitted it. I expected Jones to dominate Tarver in the rematch and was more shocked than anyone when Tarver knocked him out.

With this fight...it's interesting. I think GGG is the better fighter and I can definitely see why most would pick him to win. I pick Canelo but wouldn't be surprised if GGG wins. I'll stand by my prediction however and not make excuses if that happens. I pick Canelo though for a few reasons:

    1. I think GGG is on the slide now
    2. I think Canelo is at his absolute peak
    3. I think Canelo has a solid chin and great survival instincts, and so won't be stopped
    4. Canelo's underrated offence will score points and if it's a close fight, judges would lean towards him

Points 3 & 4 lead me to believe that you're picking Canelo via gift. Now THAT is very possible.

"Gift" is going too far. Gift suggests that I think GGG will have won clearly objectively but the judges will just award Canelo an unjust decision. No that's not it. I think that at the very least the fight will be a 50-50 affair and if it is the judges will go Canelo's way. If anything it'll be semi controversial like the first Ward kovalev fight or the Hagler Leonard fight....not a robbery but an often debated decision

GGG leading recklessly (like the Brook fight) is to Canelo's advantage.

If Golov gets his jab going consistently, it's gonna fuck up everything Canelo wants to do, and open up Golov's offense.

But if Canelo can nullify that jab, and he has a few ways he can do it, then his faster better combinations will win his the day

Really like Golovkin in this fight. I think he looked poor in his last fight due to the the style and skillset of Jacobs, not because Golovkin is losing a step. I don't see Canelo bringing the same kind of style, frame and skillset as Jacobs. I did think Golovkin still won the Jacobs fight too. I say Golovkin TKO11

I'm thinking it will be like Pacquiao-Marquez where it will be a very violent fight in spurts.

From what you've seen of them together, what do you make of the size difference between Gennady and Canelo? The height difference is a bit less than I anticipated, but it's clear Golovkin is just a naturally bigger guy all over. Taller, wider, thicker, bigger head, bigger fists etc.

Even though some of you may scoff at me saying it's going to be a 1 sided fight, that's one of the reasons why. I feel Golovkin is not only better P4P, but bigger.

Golovkin is clearly bigger and taller. It's a fairly significant height difference IMO. But can he significantly hurt Canelo when he lands and can he land consistently on him and can he just walk through Canelo's punches? Those are the questions where I have my doubts. Canelo will find GGG easier to hit than the other way around is my feeling

Yeah, that's what I feel is going to decide the fight. Canelo has good power at 154, but I don't see him being a big puncher at all at 160. I think Jacobs hits significantly harder and Golovkin took his punches no problem at all.

I think he'll simply walk right through Canelo and break him down, as soon as he starts to feel comfortable in there and realises Canelo can't really hurt him.

Two years ago I would have picked GGG to win easily. I still think he wins, but with less confidence. He is 35 and his last two performances have been less than stellar. There are mitigating factors for both: he didn't exactly struggle with Jacobs but he was in a tougher fight than anyone expected and won well enough, and his fight with Brook saw him get hit with a little bit before he broke Smell's silly face. In the latter I feel like he just walked down a much smaller man and negated his defence to get the stoppage, but I might be wrong and he might have been just getting tagged.

We'll find out in this one for sure. Canelo for me has proven exactly nothing as a middleweight and I'm totally unsold as to his effectiveness there. He was a very good welterweight and a good junior-middle but he's beaten no-one at 160 as good as Jacobs or even Macklin for that matter. Cotto, old and two weights past his best weight, proves little for me. This is a massive step-up for Canelo at 160 and if he wins I'll be the first to give him major props.

I think this will be fairly close early, but I can see GGG having the edge in power which tells as the fight goes on. Both fighters will have their moments, but Canelo likes to take breathers, even in fights he is in complete control of, and GGG won't let him do that. I think GGG will cut him off and keep him working constantly, which will drain Canelo late and allow GGG to earn a late TKO.

    MTF
