Hanging out on the ropes is definitely not a smart fight. He fought a good fight for the first round when he backed Golovkin up until getting hit with the left hook.
Stevens is horrible. Just sat on the ropes covering up in the most basic way, then went for the odd random, mistimed, misaimed "counter".
Stevens did the best you can possibly do when you are a Tuesday Night Fights guy against a world-class fighter
Yes, which would have happened again until he was unconscious had he continued trying to be the aggressor He's nowhere near the class of GGG and had no business being in there with him. Hanging on the ropes and making the fight last as long as it did is a better strategy than getting knocked the hell out in 5 minutes
same... He got his ass beat but he managed to last a while and even landed a heartwarming counter now and then The only guys disappointed in him are guys who mistakenly thought he could fight
Color me unimpressed. A boxer that was doing the minimum to remain in the fight and more concerned with remaining on his feet exposed some flaws on GGG on the inside fight. The ref stops the fight at the end of round 8, hardly a solid statement for the 11-1 favorite. I think a well prepared Sergio Martinez will put him to sleep. Mark my words.
Sergio Martinez is definitely in a different class than the middling fighters Golovkin has beat so far.
He didn't look it against the guy that Golovkin paralyzed in two rounds in his last fight Also, Sergio lost his most recent fight and got a gift against a guy I wouldn't give a snowball's chance in hell against GGG
